POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) 2 performs project specific activities such as analysis, evaluation, and testing of software development lifecycle deliverables in conformance with Digital I&C software plans, procedures and other documents. Reporting to the IV&V Supervisor / Manager, the Nuclear IV&V 2 works daily with their team members to complete assigned IV&V activities and meet timelines necessary to adhere to the overall project schedule. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Nuclear IV&V 2 coordinates with the configuration engineers, design engineers, and system engineers to ensure that NuScale digital I&C software is developed, tested, deployed, maintained and operated according to NuScale plans and procedures.The Nuclear IV&V 2 ensures that hardware and software development documents are evaluated and analyzed as required by governing IV&V plans. The IV&V duties shall include performing activities defined in the Software Verification and Validation Plan (per IEEE Std 1012-2004 and augmented by IEEE Std 1012-2016) on concept design documentation, software requirements specifications, software design documentation, software evaluation reports, code, manuals and other software products.The Nuclear IV&V 2 will develop test cases and procedures to test implementation of hardware and software requirements. The Nuclear IV&V 2 will be an active participant in all testing activities. This will include performing test procedures.The Nuclear IV&V 2 creates Anomaly Reports and Task Reports for all activities he/she has taken part in.Provides independent V&V of sub-contractor or vendor digital I&C deliverables submitted for inclusion into digital I&C systems, as required.Nuclear IV&V 2 is expected to have technical writing abilities and be able to perform owner''s acceptance reviews of third party IV&V deliverables; including system level plans, requirements, design, and test documents within a configuration managed environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Quality Assurance: Demonstrates understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1 is preferred. MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES: Education/Certification A minimum of a BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other BS engineering/science degree is required. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required in addition to the education requirement. Alternatively, an advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering may be considered in lieu of the work experience requirement. Experience in the following is required: Controls, Electrical and/or Software engineering Performance of system/software design or V&V Knowledge of system/software development lifecycles Understanding of various testing methodologies including component and interface. The following design/development experience is preferred : Design or implementation of distributed control systems or programmable logic controllers Experience with closed loop motion control theory Experience with encoder and resolver integration Automated crane control programming a plus Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
