Position Type: Student Support Services/Speech Language PathologistDate Posted: 5/6/2022Location: Christina School District--To be determinedDate Available: School Year 2022-2023District: Christina School DistrictPosition: Assistive Technology Coordinator Location: Special Services Reports to: Special Services Administration Purpose: The Assistive Technology (AT) Team will consist of a combination of a Special Educator and/or Speech and Language Pathologist and/or Occupational Therapist. The AT Team will research, advocate for, and disseminate effective practices that support consideration of assistive technology devices, services and testing accommodations for students with disabilities and promote the use of accessible technology-based instructional practices across general and special education. The AT team will assist the Individual Education Program (IEP) team to integrate assistive technology with instruction to improve students'' skills in the areas of academics, social interaction, communication, and independent living. Ability to: Conduct thorough evaluations for the recommendation of appropriate assistive technology Manage assistive technology services in several schools Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with students, parents, professionals and community Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Organize tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage personal schedule Manage multiple tasks Work collaboratively with IEP teams Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teacher Certification in Special Education, Speech and Language Pathology, or Occupational Therapy Masters Degree (Preferred) Three or more years of experience working with students with disabilities Experience in the evaluation and implementation of Assistive Technology Salary: Teacher salary schedule based on experience and degree. Performance Responsibilities: Possess a thorough knowledge of Assistive Technology Requirements under IDEA & Section 504 Knowledge of best practices in evaluation, acquisition, training and use of assistive technology in teaching, communication, social skills and independent living skills Evaluate the individual needs of students Evaluate high quality technology products Collaborate with teachers, students, parents and administrators Purchase, lease or otherwise provide for the acquisition of assistive technology devices Select, design, adapt , maintain, repair, or replace assistive technology devices Integrate assistive technology into effective instructional practices Design technology supported instructional interventions using best practices Disseminate effective practices that support the consideration of assistive technology devices, services and accommodations through the IEP process Promote the use of accessible technology-based instructional practices across general and special education Provide professional development and coaching to staff on use of assistive technology Provide Technical Assistance to individuals with disabilities, family members and staff Review instruction manuals and online training modules to learn the operations and functions of electronic devices and software Assist the IEP team with development of IEP goals as pertaining to use of assistive technology Monitor student progress to ensure the team is implementing accommodations and complying with special education regulations Collaborate directly with the technology department to ensure assistive technology equipment is compatible with district technology Track stored and disseminated equipment in an electronic inventory database Attend continuing education workshops to stay abreast of current technology innovations and to maintain credentialing and skillset in personal area of expertise (based on certification) Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday. Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance). Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.
