The Space and Strategic Operations Group provides program management, engineering services, and analytic support to the US Space Force, US Space Command, US Strategic Command and NASA. Our work includes developing approaches and concepts to meet emerging, high priority national defense needs, and assessing cutting-edge technologies and capabilities to meet those needs. SPA is looking for a Space Wargame Engineer/Developer. Responsibilities * Subject Matter Expert on space engagement and the USSF Protect and Defend missions * Performs research and analysis of US and foreign military systems, order of battle, strategies, CONOPS, Combatant Command Operations Plans, CONEMPS and Techniques, Tactics and Procedures. * Perform military requirements analysis, threat system analysis, system survivability analysis, mission performance/effectiveness analysis, force level effectiveness analysis, military utility, and operations analysis. * Perform mission concept development, joint mission threads development, system architecture development, and model-based system engineering. Familiar with and systematically research a variety of engagement, mission and/or campaign models and simulations in a variety of domains (air, sea, land, space, cyberspace). * Develop metrics to assess terrestrial warfighting capabilities based on different scenarios that describe different space support to operations. * Develops essential elements of analysis for assessments and analytically rigorous data collection plans by determining required relevant data * Lead wargame development and execution during the pre-event, event, and post-event phases Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Masters or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Military Operations or Operations Research. * Minimum 15 years experience in industry and/or military operations research, modeling, simulation and analysis in a space, cyberspace and/or defense environment. (One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required experience. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.) * Scrum Master certification and relevant experience with leading agile software development teams is strongly desired. * U.S. citizen and active Top Secret clearance required, SCI Eligibility clearance desired. * Working knowledge of USSF and/or NRO space missions * Experience with the other domains/missions area (air, land, sea and littoral) is desired * Experience with applying methodologies to define and formulate military systems and operational analysis. * Understanding how the space and other missions can be modeled in M&S and decision support tools at the mission or campaign level. * Experience in the development of scenarios, researching weapon systems and understanding of OPLANS and TTPS. * Experience in the development of data post processing tools and be able to present consolidated results and insights from the M&S tools for senior decision makers. * Experience with developing and using a variety of tools to support the analysis (Excel, R, OR-Tool for Python, SAS, etc) as well as experience with software languages to include (Python, Visual Basic Applications, etc.). * Experience with performing studies, research and analysis using M&S tools to evaluate the impacts of space on the warfighter. * Experience with using space M&S tools at the campaign/mission level such as System Effectiveness Analysis Simulation (SEAS), Synthetic Theater Operations Research Model (STORM), Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) and/or Decision Support Tools to support analysis. * Experience with working with military model, simulation, decision support tools, and other analysis tools to support operations assessment * Knowledge of Joint and AF Doctrine, CONOPS, CONEMPS and TTPs. * Strong analytical, presentation, coordination skills. * Ability to prepare and deliver briefings to leadership Desired Qualifications: * Support to previous AFSPC or USSF wargame events * Familiarity with SSDP and SWAC analysis activities * Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) coding experience (e.g. Cameo Systems Modeler) and implementation into simulation toolsets (e.g. SPySE, SCORE, SOAP) * Software coding experience with Python
