OverviewMercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit Catholic medical centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and two specialty hospitals - MercyOne Children''s Hospital in Des Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds total) - along with more than 20 additional facilities that house more than 50 primary care pediatric internal medicine and specialty clinics. Keeps current with trends in pharmacy practice and maintains a leading edge pharmacy practice.Responsible for the use of medications and internal controls, including the monitoring of compliance with all laws and regulations of accrediting bodies.Develops and implements organizational/departmental policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services with approval and cooperation of the hospital administration and P&T committee.Provides leadership in medication related patient care to achieve drug use that is safe and effective, pharmaceutical care focused on achieving positive patient outcomes through cost effective drug therapy, pharmaceutical services that advance the cure, amelioration, or prevention of disease, and promotion of pharmacy as an essential component of the healthcare team.Manages the operations of the departments within the fiscal guidelines of the facility budget plan. Leads the development of the department''s operational and capital budget and manages the departments within the budget.Provides progressive and effective leadership, vision, and direction for the pharmacy departments. Maintains an effective working relationship with pharmacy personnel, with members of the medical staff, other departments, executive leadership and affiliates. Maintains an effective environment which fosters individual respect and encourages employees to contribute their talents and goals.QualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of pharmacy is required.Master of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, or PharmD required.Masters in Health Care or Business Administration strongly preferred.Licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the state of Iowa.Minimum of 10 years of hospital pharmacy experience, with five years of pharmacy management, director level experience required.Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hirePreferred: Experience in acute care setting to include: detail oriented, critical thinking skills, proven internal consulting and team facilitation, experience with pharmacy dispense automation, experience in pharmacy education and program development and planning, strong understanding of strategic planning and organizational effectiveness, and relevant knowledge and skills with managing pharmacy operations and budgets.MissionCriticalLI-CHI
