Clinical Research Coordinator - Orthopedic Surgery Research AdministrationResponsible for the management and coordination of clinical research projects in the department of Orthopedic Surgery. Responsible for the management and review of research proposals to ensure compliance with policy and procedures related to protection of human safety, rights and confidentiality. Responsible for the management of data reporting and clinical practices associated with clinical research. Serve as the liaison between the IRB and the Principal investigators. The candidate will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with faculty in the Department in the development, implementation and evaluation of research projects. Manage and coordinate all aspects of research projects, ensuring compliance with protocol requirements, hospital review board policies, and federal research guidelines & regulations. Conduct budget and contract negotiations for Industry sponsored and Federal contracts. Responsible for managing specified Federal, Industry sponsored, philanthropic and foundation funds. Responsible for ensuring that the terms of all contracts are met, that all payments are received, for ensuring that funds are not overspent, that appropriate expenses are placed on the fund, for reconciliation of errors on fund reports and that funds are closed in a timely manner. Manage the development and submission of applications to the IRB. Participate in meetings with pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies including monitoring visits, investigator meetings, audits, site initiation & qualification visits and study close-outs. Participate in meetings with staff regarding study proposals Serve as the main liaison between the Research Investigators and the Research and Clinical Trials Administration Office and between Research Investigators and study sponsor. Conduct education for hospital staff to further ensure compliance with research protocol and data collection, including lab specimens. Manage and organize all critical documents related to clinical trials including data base management. Maintain and update annual reports of projects conducted Schedule patients for clinic visits and tests related to clinical trials. Coordinate offsite research visits including surgeries and patient follow-up appointments. Research data collection and data entry Regulatory maintenance Meet with patients for screening, enrollment and follow-up visits. This entails explaining studies, obtaining consents, performing study procedures, chart review and helping to complete surveys. Document and track all adverse and serious adverse events. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelors or Masters Degree in a related healthcare discipline. 3-5 years of clinical research experience, orthopedic surgery preferred Certified clinical research professional preferred. Knowledge of IRB policies, ICH GCP guidelines, FDA regulations Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Management, leadership, and organizational ability. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain tact, poise, and discretion in handling confidential matters. Highly organized and detail oriented. Ability to convey complex information in understandable terms to individuals at all educational levels. Ability to understand and relate to Department''s goals and standards. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Excellent time management skills.
