Headquartered in Minneapolis, our organization employs more than 1,200 physicians, 300 advanced practice providers and 2,200 health professionals and staff throughout Minnesota and beyond.Join us on a mission to advance medicine.Job Title: Faculty Physician - Geriatric Orthopedic Surgeon, Clinical Program Director, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, University of Minnesota Medical School (Assistant or Associate/Full Professor)The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time orthopedic surgeon with expertise in general orthopedic fracture care and geriatric trauma fracture care to be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor or above, on the academic or clinician track. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in orthopedic surgery with a required fellowship in trauma with focus on Geriatric patients. The individual hired will also be employed full-time in the University of Minnesota Physicians practice group and must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota. Academic Responsibilities:This is an exceptional career opportunity for an academic Orthopedic surgeon to lead our geriatric initiative called, The Masters'' Program, a joint collaboration between HealthPartners Health System, and the University of Minnesota. The Masters has been growing for well over a decade and includes a comprehensive bone health approach to older and frailer patients who sustain fractures. The program is characterized by a 3-part model, inclusive of Bone Health Clinics, Hospital Co-Management, and the acclaimed Mobile Outreach program which diagnoses and treats patients in the nursing home setting when appropriate. This program is tied to a Geriatric Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship and yields many research opportunities, which we want our newest faculty member to lead. The ideal candidate would be an orthopedic surgeon with:A passion for the study and treatment of elderly patientsA track record of innovative care delivery and scholarshipExperience in a geriatric focused trauma or recon practice, or related fellowshipA desire for teaching and research in this clinical domainLeadership aptitude to run a multi-faceted clinical and academic program, lead a fellowship and provide mentoring learners and facultyAbility to work effectively inside and across organizations with interdisciplinary interests and a focus on outstanding clinical care and academic achievementClinical Responsibilities: Includes patient care at TRIA and Methodist Hospital and affiliated sites as needed.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited ACGME Orthopedic Surgery residency and/or fellowship training program. Required fellowship in trauma with focus on Geriatric patients.Board eligible/certified.Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of MinnesotaMeet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and PrivilegesAbility to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
