Join a team that has the environment down to a science.Your OpportunityStantec''s Environmental Services Practice is seeking an experienced Senior Archaeologist to serve as Project Manager to support our cultural resources and paleontology resources teams. The location of the position is flexible within Southern California, will be based out of your choice of offices and provides for remote work-from-home office, or flexible in-office/home-office workplace setting. Opportunities are limitless within our global company of more than 25,000 staff associated with over 400 office locations across 6 continents.Your Key ResponsibilitiesOversight and execution of interdisciplinary cultural/paleontology resource projects (large and small)Identify team members for the projects you leadLead your team members towards the successful execution of projects from proposal-win to project close-out.Manage projects, expectations, and budgetsProvide accurate and timely project billing and invoicingEngage, collaborate, and coordinate with, and retain our clientsFacilitate compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, for various agenciesCollaborate with your peers, subcontractors, other project managers, and discipline leads, and within multi-discipline project teamsDevelop and maintain good working relationships with federal, state, and tribal agenciesNative American consultation supportContribute to drafting proposal and budgetsProvide quality assurance/quality control review of deliverablesTravel may be required for this roleQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsDemonstrated experience and knowledge of environmental policy and regulation (i.e., NEPA, NHPA, Section 1106, Section 110, ARPA, PRPA)Deep understanding of California prehistory and history and/or paleontology and geologyExperience with all aspects of cultural resource management (survey, excavation, data recovery, lab analysis, research)Strong professional technical writing, problem solving, and communication skillsDemonstrate leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performanceChampions new ideas and initiatives and creates an environment that supports creativity and innovationSelf-awareness of technical and/or professional abilities and the ability to determine when assistance from Subject Matter Experts is neededAbility to follow written and verbal direction on project deliveryAbility to convey safety information to field staffAbility to use field data collection equipment such as GPS and Environment Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Collector and Survey 1-2-3Geographic Information System (GIS) and/or archaeological remote sensing experience preferred, but not requiredGood driving record and valid drivers license required.Education and ExperienceMinimum of eight years of experience in the role of Principal InvestigatorMinimum of three years of experience managing projects, staff, budgets, clients, invoicing on project ranging from large to small, high-volume, fast-paced, multiple business sectors, industries, regionsArchaeology ApplicantsGraduate degree (Masters or Doctorate)Meet the qualifications as described in the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualification Standards for Archeology and Historic Preservation (48 FR 44716)Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or qualifications that meet requirements to become a RPAPermitted/permittable for conducting investigations on federal, state, and tribal landTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
