Our trusted global marketplace is supported by a network of specialists spanning 40 countries and 50 categories, which include Contemporary Art, Modern and Impressionist Art, Old Masters, Chinese Works of Art, Jewelry, Watches, Wine and Spirits, and Interiors, among many others.THE ROLE The Project Manager is responsible for working with specific business units (Jewelry) on large-scale projects and initiatives related to the auction calendar and client engagement in the Americas. This can range from auctions at our flagship properties in NY and LA, off-site auctions, regional exhibitions, trade shows, selling exhibitions, and other types of client events. The Project Manager keeps a client-centric view while engaging with internal and external stakeholders to make these initiatives successful. The Project Manager will work closely with the specific Specialist teams on a daily basis, as well as partners in Marketing, Operations, Risk, and Finance. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage departments'' sales calendars, including milestones such as sales, exhibitions, events, business-getting travel, and consolidated property shipments. Partner with specialist departments on the coordination and execution of exhibition layouts as well as any exhibition staffing. Liaise with Marketing to ensure department needs are fulfilled within exhibition designs and operations to ensure exhibition logistics deadlines are met Develop client-specific engagement models, such as execution of Dealer Views Coordinating with Global team on traveling exhibition schedule for inbound and outbound property Work with Regional leadership on client events (business-getting or sale-related) across the Americas, Coordinate tradeshow logistics for relevant departments - including booth, furniture, lighting, vault, property documentation, and marketing materials Coordinate with Client Services and Bids on client appointments, events, tours, and auction clients planning to bid in the room Develop and help write copy for Proposals, Brochures, and Pitch Decks for new business-getting initiatives in partnership with Marketing and Proposals Oversee inbound property consignment pipeline, providing commentary to the respective Business Manager for their pipeline reporting to Senior Management as needed, and work with Department Administrators on aging inventory Work with Specialists to ensure CRM best practices are met and partner with CRM Product Team on any issues that may arise Strategic business analysis on Sotheby''s and Competitors Partner with the Fiduciary Client Group to identify various estates and trusts for sourcing prospects and review sales records and valuations for prospective business. Manage junior personnel, both directly and indirectly, and develop talent within the departments. IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES Minimum of a Bachelor''s Degree required. Proven project management, consulting, or other relevant strategic experience. 4-6 years of experience in a related field required. Working knowledge of specific business units (Jewelry) preferred. Strong management experience with the ability to motivate a team and work with senior levels of management. Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail. Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a high level of self-motivation. Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity. A high degree of business acumen, sophistication, and the ability to establish trust with a variety of personalities. Ability to master multiple technical devices and systems.
