Salary: $38,000-42,000Pension, Health Care and Vacation as per personnel policyFREE YMCA MembershipGeneral FunctionUnder the guidance of the Vice President of Operations, the Aquatic Director will create, promote, manage, evaluate, and lead aquatic programs, while managing and supervising, aquatic coordinators, part-time lifeguards, instructors, and seasonal outdoor staff including pool managers, lifeguards and communicating with Borough officials. Know HowThis position has multi-functional responsibilities including Bachelor''s Degree from an accredited college or university, or significant aquatic experience or the following requirements:Understand the basic purpose and nature of the YMCA with the respective roles identified and carried out by volunteers and staff.Demonstrate the ability to effectively organize and utilize staff in meeting the goals of the organization. Demonstrate skills in facility management, program development, staff supervision and marketing.Possess good oral and written communication skills.Obtain YMCA Team Leader Certification and additional YMCA professional training. Principle Activities Program Development and MarketingResponsible for developing and achieving aquatic participant goals as they relate to annual goal projections. Manage and develop current aquatic programs for members of our organization and the surrounding areas, to increasing participation in those programs by devising a strong marketing plan for the department.Responsible for the development of all marketing and promotional information for each aquatic program. Identify and implement a minimum of three new aquatic programs each year or operational efficiencies to enhance the long range goals of the association. Offering programs that have the potential to meet or exceed the budgeted amount.Will formally evaluate each program using the created quality system.Personally observe each program a minimum of one time each session while interacting with program participants and members. Organize, promote and conduct a comprehensive Summer Pool program collaborating with Ellwood City Borough (or any other opportunity that arises) that will meet or exceed the budgeted amount. Assist in the planning and operation of the summer employee orientation program. Develop a plan to implement prayer and our Values Program to all participants. Fiscal/Financial DevelopmentParticipate in the Annual Support Campaign by serving as a team captain, actively recruiting team members meeting the recruitment of five team members and meeting or exceeding the $1,000.00 quota. All staff employed in the aquatic department will be monitored as to federal and state regulations regarding determination of qualifying as full time or part time status. No part time staff may work more than 950 hours without written permission of President/CEO. Identify a specific community need and secure funding to meet this need by obtaining a grant from any source. Human Resources Management Assure that Position Descriptions and performance standards are in place for all staff prior to any staff being hired and that all background/reference checks, CPR, AED, child abuse prevention and new employee orientation trainings are obtained within 90 days of employment. Responsible for reviewing employee files, certifications, personally holding, maintaining all aquatic certifications and updating when needed.New employees on their first day of employment must be welcomed along with a review of the necessary orientation procedures and expectations. Conduct a minimum of nine monthly in-service trainings for the YMCA building staff and weekly meetings for summer pool staff for a total of 14. Notify your supervisor two weeks prior to each scheduled meeting. Informally communicate with 50% of staff one week and the other 50% the next week to listen and address concerns, provide support and to cascade needed information. YMCA Departmental Administration All lifeguards that are on duty will be ''rescue ready'', meaning each guard should be: properly attired and easily identifiable, holding Rescue Tube with strap around their shoulder, equipped with a resuscitation mask and protective gloves, wearing a whistle, positioned at the pool''s edge, standing or seated in an elevated guard stand and actively scanning their area of coverage completely within 10 seconds and are able to get to a victim under water within 10 seconds.Randomly audit a lifeguard on duty with an emergency scenario, document and use the audit as a coaching tool to develop emergency preparedness for future incidents. Five audits must be completed each quarter with five different lifeguards and of those five audits, one audit must be interdepartmental. Establish and maintain collaborative and co-operative relationships with local government, schools and agencies.Responsible for daily inspection of the Aquatic Center including whirlpool, sauna and steam room. Will address the area by filling out the necessary work order and communicating to supervisor. Is an active member of the Association''s Team, accepts responsibilities for the fulfillment of its mission, operating standards, goals and objectives.Develop yearly goals that will positively connect people with our YMCA. Readily assist employees in instructing or guarding when needed. No class should never not operate because of confusion on behalf of the YMCA. Maintain professional conduct and a neat appearance consistent with the Dress Policy.Cultivate five persons of our YMCA population or Beaver County Community using a deliberate in place process. Being able to articulate and demonstrates the YMCA Mission and Five Core Values. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Effect on End ResultThis position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the Association accomplishes its goals and objectives in service to the community. The Aquatic Director has a primary impact on the community''s understanding of the YMCA through:The sound administration of purposeful and coordinated programs, good public relations, financial and records systems and facility management.
