DescriptionJob SummaryThe Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) Residency Program Director provides administrative support to educational training programs for medical students, interns and residents at McLaren Macomb (MM) through curriculum design and evaluation, planning, clinical supervision, personnel management, special projects and program development.Responsibilities:To serve as Director of the training program with all the responsibilities which come with this title, as stated in the ACGME Program Requirements.Primarily responsible for ensuring compliance of the program (and its participants) with accreditation standards, hospital policies and procedures, State of Michigan and Federal regulations, and GME policies and procedures as established by the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), including due process and grievance procedures.Responsible for preparing and distributing the annual program review.Identifies, recruits, interviews, evaluates, and recommends residency program candidates to the Department of Medical Education, via the development of a Rank List.Orients residents to the training program, as well as the requirements of the current accrediting specialty college and ACGME.Develop and oversee the implementation of program curriculum, including rotations, goals and objectives, and all educational activities in compliance with accreditation requirements. In conjunction with the Department of Medical Education, arrange affiliation agreements and/or rotations that are necessary to meet program objectives.Assist the Medical Director in the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) Residency Clinic.Plans, organizes and supervises the residency program in order to ensure that residents:Receive appropriate education, interactions, challenges and supervision;Are assigned clinical responsibilities appropriate for their level of training and level of knowledge and skill;Are properly supervised in clinical assignments, providing safe and effective patient care;Are in compliance with ACGME duty hour rules;Appropriately complete and submit occurrence reports, when applicable;Participate in hospital committees;Complete all responsibilities, including such activities as hospital rounds, appropriate chartings, history and physical examinations, case summaries, resident logs and resident patient evaluations;Are evaluated for performance in relation to the educational objectives of the program; andAre properly promoted to the next level of training in the program or graduated only when all requirements are met for such a promotion.Faculty Selection, development, and evaluation:Identify, select, and encourage all credentialed and qualified OBGYN physicians and other specialists to participate in the training of residents and medical students.Orient faculty to the program and to all policies and procedures relevant to the facultys participation in the anize the faculty to deliver a consistently high-quality education program. Evaluate the performance of faculty in meeting program objectives.Develop and implement programs to enhance the knowledge, clinical expertise, and teaching skills of the faculty.Assure that faculty meets research and scholarly activity requirements of the program, including active participation in the clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and research conferences in a manner that promotes a spirit of inquiry and scholarship.Responsible for the continuous evaluations of faculty performance related to the quality, instructional and educational activities, professional involvement and growth, and their adherence to the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of McLaren Flint medical staff and its faculty. Address areas of concern immediately with the specific attending physicians and make recommendations for faculty development where needed.Maintain a Core Competency Committee with key faculty to evaluate resident performance in the ACGME milestones.Conducting or engaging in other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Medical Education.The above description reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the position as identified and are not considered a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent to the position.Reporting structure:Works collaboratively with the Director of Medical Education. Reports through the DME to the Senior Vice President, Medical Administration and the CEO (or designee).QualificationsQualifications:Possess a MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.Possess current certification in the specialty for which they are the program director by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) or by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, or specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the ACGME Review Committee.Possess an active license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.Possess membership in good standing of the AOA and ACOOG.Have at least three years of OBGYN experience (not including residency).Have at least three-year experience as Associate Program Director or faculty member of an AOA or ACGME accredited OBGYN residency program.Engaged in patient care as an OBGYN physician.Be attitudinally suited to conduct a residency training program and to uphold the education mission of MM by modeling professionalism and a commitment to academics.Meet the continuing medical education (CME) requirements of the AOA and ACOOG.Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/VeteransJob: PhysicianPrimary Location: Michigan-Mount Clemens-Mt Clemens Reg Med CenterOrganization MAC10-McLaren Macomb-HospitalEmployee Status ContractualShift Day JobJob Type StandardSchedule Full-timeReq ID: 22006440
