DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMay take the resident to the dining roomPrepare food for eatingServe foodPrepare the resident for the meal to include positioning and hand hygieneProvide encouragement and conversation during the mealPrepare food, such as by cutting the meat, so that the resident may self-feedAssist a resident as he or she drinks a beverageIn some cases, feed the residentTake the resident back to the bed room or to another area of the facility as directed.Record food and fluid intake and report all findings to the charge nurse or designeeCommunicates effectively with Charge Nurse regarding residents needs and requestsAssists in transporting residents to and from dining roomsEncourages residents to perform and participate in the ADL of feeding and remains alert for resident safety throughout the meal process and clean up.Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality, assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
