JOB SUMMARYThe Massage Therapist provides massage therapy that is designed to meet the patient''s physical and/or psychological needs.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms patient assessments to evaluate appropriateness for a massage therapy program and contributes to the plan of treatment.Reports changes in the patient''s conditions and needs to the Registered Nurse Case Manager or Director of Patient Care Services.Observes for safety hazards in the patient''s and organization''s environments and takes appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate them.Designs and implements a variety of massage treatment and therapy plans to meet the individual needs of each patient.Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning physical treatments.Provides therapeutic interventions (i.e. Swedish massage, Reiki, acupressure, cranio sacral therapy, myofascial release, reflexology, etc.) according to the plan of care.Provides education to the staff and community on the massage therapy program.Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars, and workshops.Attends and participates in in-services, staff meetings and case pletes all documentation in an accurate and legible plies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations and standards of practice.Performs other related duties as assigned.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by the employee of this job.
