Job DescriptionGENERAL SERVICE WORKER JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for safely and efficiently Maintain, repair, and install all machinery in the plant. Understand and align business operations and the Department(s) as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:Performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on plant equipment.Performs preventive maintenance and inspections on plant equipment.Performs major and minor equipment rebuilds as needed.Uses machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill press, band saw, welder) to fabricate metal partsInstalls electrical circuits for equipment repair or modification.Assists with special projects as directed by M/E Manager or Maintenance stalls or repairs machine guards and safety equipment.Maintains good housekeeping in plant maintenance areasPerforms maintenance to buildings and grounds as requiredResponsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, safety, food safety, SQF, HACCP and food defense procedures (training will be provided)Must be able to stand for 8 to 12 hours with short breaksMust be able to safely lift 35 poundsMust be able to work outside, including the roof of the building.Any other reasonable request from managementESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:WORK SCHEDULE:General schedule is an 8- or 12-hour shift, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.Occasional overtime is required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee is frequently required to lift or carry 10 to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift or carry 26 to 50 pounds.Required SkillsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:5-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experienceMechanical skillsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
