*THIS IS A MALE-GENDERED ONLY POSITION* The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seeks caring and compassionate applicants for the role of Direct Care Worker (DCW) III that have experience working with individuals with intellectual disability. This position provides direct supports for individuals residing in an emergency respite program that offers short and long term residential services as well as intensive clinical, medical and psychiatric services. The DCW III position is responsible for providing individuals with support that fosters and reinforces choice, health, safety and welfare, positive role modeling and developmental and maintenance of relationships with community members/organizations, and family and friends. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Provide programmatic direct support services in basic life and social skills by teaching and/or assisting individuals on how to perform basic functions independently and to assist them in recognizing their own abilities. Assist individuals in achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the ISP to increase the individual''s skills, competencies, independence and self control over their environment. Transport and accompany individuals to day programs, religious services, recreational activities, as well as medical and other personal appointments to encourage social interactions, community involvement and optimum health levels. Serve as spokesperson and advocate for the individual while providing guidance. Update and maintain documents and records including but not limited to behavior treatment plans, health care protocols, and other individual specific plans related to the support of individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Document changes in behavior, medical issues and physical injuries, and changes made to the individual''s schedule. Perform basic housekeeping and maintenance duties to support individual''s needs, include, but not limited to: cleaning the individuals'' rooms, making beds, emptying the trash, laundry and cleaning common quarters to ensure the cleanliness of the individual''s residence. Administer medication in accordance with Medication Administration Program (MAP) policies and procedures. Performs crisis intervention in emergency situations when necessary; duties may include, but are not limited to: contacting on-call services, arranging for hospitalization, assisting in the evacuation of individuals from home/program site in the event of a fire or a fire drill. Perform program related duties, such as food shopping and assisting with meal preparation and menu planning while adhering to dining guidelines and dietary considerations. As needed, schedule staff coverage and overtime in a group home setting, to ensure sufficient staffing levels in order in to support individuals throughout their day and to promote personnel growth and development. Perform program related fiscal management of individuals'' funds and state funds; oversee the procurement of food and other household items to support individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Ensure a safe and well maintained homelike environment for individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Please Note: This positon is located in Templeton Community Services in Baldwinville, MA.
