Job DescriptionThis can be a work-from-home opportunityAs the Senior Manager, Underwriting Unit Lead, the candidate will lead an unit performing new business Medicare underwriting functions for Public and Labor, National Accounts and Middle Market groups. This person will be responsible for hitting financial metrics (including margin and membership targets) and will have direct ownership of case management in support of the Underwriters.-Supports an underwriting team performing new business functions in support of stated mission and key performance metrics. -Manages production within unit and directs changing priorities. -Identifies staffing needs and/or training issues.- Leads process improvement initiatives related to productivity, rating accuracy, and customer service.-Provides superior customer service and coaches team to develop those skillsets. -Understands, applies and explains company services, product standards, underwriting policies, strategic direction and new initiatives relative to unit's responsibilities. -Grants underwriting exceptions and financial variances within prescribed limit. -May participate in broker/customer meetings. -Works across Aetna's segments/markets to achieve goals. -Utilizes knowledge of competition and competitive position to evaluate risk and maximize profitability. -Negotiates and explains rate development and application of underwriting policy to internal and external business partners. -Helps set case and business strategy. Ensures that timely actions and deliverables are met by team. -Coaches others indirectly and directly to maximize performance. -Builds strong cross-functional relationships with the sales team and other internal organizations.#AetnaUWPay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 75,400Maximum: 162,700Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
