Job Description About The Role At CVS, we're building a Web Platform to enable teams across CVS Digital to quickly and easily deliver experiences into the hands of our customers, all at the scale of a Fortune 4 company The Web Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across Retail, Pharmacy, Health Solutions, and Aetna building sites used by millions of customers.As a Principal Engineer I for the Web Platform, you'll be responsible for leading efforts to build shared internal libraries, tools, and processes that enable teams across CVS Digital to self-service build, test, preview, deploy and operate systems with reduced lead time and stack complexity.This is a new team at CVS and we need a strong technical leader who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate for best practices, and can collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, architects and leadership to build a web platform that engineers want to use. This is a unique opportunity to help build a team from the ground up. What We Expect of You - You're an expert in modern front-end development using frameworks and libraries such as React, Next.js, Angular, GraphQL, Redux and React Query- You have advanced JavaScript & TypeScript skills- You're knowledgeable about how a framework like Angular or library like React works under the hood- You'll develop scalable engineering solutions for cross-team concerns like UI state management, data fetching, build tooling, performance, client observability, analytics, CI/CD and other architectural challenges- You have experience architecting SSR for a site operating at scale, and how to leverage edge caching and optimizations- You're able to identify where an application could fail, and you know how to build in kill switches and disaster recovery mechanisms to limit outages on the front-end- You understand the trade-offs between a multi-site and monolithic architecture- You understand when to recommend a monorepo vs a multi-repo approach and know it's not a one-size-fits all; And you understand the tooling need for each- You have experience with A/B Testing, personalization, and analytics- You'll advocate for best practices for building performant, scalable, and reliable web applications- You'll design, lead, and build the front-end architecture that enables product engineering teams to more quickly build and deploy their applications- You'll partner with leaders across engineering, business, and product to build a strategy and roadmap- You understand business outcomes and drive technical solutions to help achieve our goals- You'll collaborate with other teams across CVS Digital to ensure we're building a web platform with our customer's needs in mind- You'll keep an eye out for new and emerging technologies that improve performance, delivery, and developer experience.- You'll develop processes for accepting community contributions and requests for major changes that have the potential to impact millions of customers- You'll actively participate in peer code reviews, providing feedback to your fellow engineers to make them better and to improve the quality of the software we ship- You enjoy automating developer pain away by developing CLIs, GitHub bots, and integrations- You approach all engineering work with a performance lens and make it easy for teams to identify performance bottlenecksPay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 115,000Maximum: 230,000Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
