The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Design Phase Manager to be located out of one of our multiple office locations. This candidate will support Industrial market sectors in processing and advanced manufacturing in emerging marketsthroughout the United States.Candidates must be well versed and experienced in Design-Build and/or Target Value Delivery (TVD). Business travel is required up to 50% for this position. The Senior Design Phase Manager is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and setting up medium-size to large, complex, projects up for success through delivery of preconstruction services. Value should be provided to customers by leading the project team, predicting cost and schedule, advocating for owners and seamlessly transitioning preconstruction services to the operations team. This role will provide oversight and leadership to assigned internal employees. What You'll Do Every Day: Lead the design phase of the project, working closely with the project team, stakeholders, and clients to ensure that project objectives are met within the established timelines and budget. Develop and maintain project design documents, including design briefs, design specifications, design guidelines, and design review documents. Manage the design team and provide technical guidance and support to ensure that design activities are completed on schedule and to the required quality standards. Identify and mitigate design risks and issues, and make recommendations for risk reduction strategies. Ensure that all design work is compliant with relevant regulations, codes, and standards. Collaborate with other project managers and stakeholders to ensure that the design phase is integrated with other project activities, such as procurement, construction, and commissioning. Coordinate with external design consultants and contractors to ensure that project design requirements are met. Conduct regular design reviews with the project team, stakeholders, and clients to ensure that project objectives are being met. Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders. Business travel will be required Other duties and projects as assigned What We're Looking For: Education: A college degree in a construction related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience: Ten to fifteen (10 - 15)years of extensive estimating and/or project management construction experience is required. Experience in a fast-paced business environment is helpful. Proven history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully, is helpful. Skills: Independent judgment, business acumen, judgment, client relations, negotiation, decision making, conflict resolution, problem solving, effective internal and external communication, project management, team leadership, tact, adaptability and analytical abilities are all necessary skills for a Senior Preconstruction Manager. Technology: Proficiency with operating systems and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Employee must have experience with onscreen takeoffs and the ability to learn other specific software.
