Job DescriptionReporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for preparing, processing, and finalizing multiple biweekly payrolls. The Payroll Administrator reviews and analyzes employee transactions and time reports to ensure payments are compliant with college policy, the employee handbook and provisions of collective bargaining agreements. This role is responsible for maintaining payroll records and process documentation as well as responding to employee inquiries related to payroll. Responsibilities:• Process multiple biweekly payrolls, as well as reissuing paychecks based on established college procedures including the appropriate audit reports for each payroll.• Review time report hours entered and ensure processing is in compliance with federal and state laws and standards, as well as follows the various Collective Bargaining Agreements.• Maintain a working knowledge of deduction and adjustment types to support entering and reviewing appropriate deductions and payment modifications including benefits, pay adjustments and tax deductions in alignment with current regulation and laws.• Run reports and assist in preparing periodic, quarterly and annual tax filings and audit requests.• Research and respond to high volume inquiries from departments, employees, and various agencies regarding prior and future transactions.• Support effective payroll services by running a regular cadence of payroll reports, tracking garnishments and loan payments, and creating accounts payable requisitions. Required knowledge, skills and abilities• Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.• Five years of experience in a payroll, accounting, or bookkeeping position or an equivalent combination of training and experience.• Ability to effectively manage, high volume of confidential material with strict deadlines and multiple competing priorities.• Demonstrated proficiency of using complex technological tools and systems to complete complex employee transactions and communicate effectively.• The ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with a diverse employment community with different levels of payroll knowledge. Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities• Experience in higher education or other non-profit settings.• Knowledge of Workday, SCT Banner, and Hyperion/Brio software or similar database and extraction or reporting software.• Existing knowledge of garnishment and loan payment processes. CompensationThe starting annual base salary range is $60,405.80- $68,620.When extending an offer, Vassar College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, budget, and other market and organizational considerations. The starting salary range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of posting.
