JOB DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of the Director of Patient Safety, the Patient Safety Coordinator assists in the functions of and furthers the mission of the department. The focus of the Patient Safety Coordinator's role is direct involvement in improving the quality and safety of care through risk assessment and quality improvement techniques.EDUCATION:Clinician with a Bachelor's degree in clinical specialty required, RN required. Master's degree in a health care related field desired. In lieu of education, experience will be considered.EXPERIENCE:Must have 5-10 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting. 3-5 years experience in clinical risk management preferred, quality improvement, or patient safety improvement in a complex healthcare environment preferred. Experience in data review, manipulation and analysis preferred. Experience as a skilled facilitator using quality improvement methodologies to improve patient safety preferred.ON CALL: None Requirements: Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. The University of Vermont Health Network is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
