Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.What You Will Do:Raytheon is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to provide unique packaging designs and engineering in support of purchased parts and assemblies, manufacturing processes and finished product outbound to our customers.Our products have a wide range of size and complexity from thumb drives to heavy weight and oversized major end items of radars, shelters and antennas. This position supports multiple major production programs by creating and maintaining the packaging solutions supporting preservation and shipment of deliverable this role, youll balance multiple projects and customers in a dynamic manufacturing landscape, supporting cost reduction and process improvement initiatives as well as manufacturing activities on the production floor.Additional responsibilities will include:Developing thoughtful, effective and innovative packaging solutions to support the preservation and safe shipment of all hardware.Creating packaging designs using CREO 3D CAD, including:*Protective cushioned packs*Corrugated structures*Wood crates and assemblies*Vacuum formed plasticsInitiating cost reductions and process improvementsTeaming with Product, Manufacturing and Logistics Engineering along with Traffic, Safety and EHS to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and with valuePlanning, coordinating and executing Package Performance testing using ASTM D 4169 and/or International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) protocolDeveloping and maintaining special packaging instructions and drawings meeting Military and Best Commercial standards.Qualifications You Must Have :Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this positionExperience with CREO, SolidWorks or other CAD softwareExperience with project managementQualifications We Prefer:Knowledge of distribution environments and their influence on packaging designKnowledge and experience meeting MIL STD 2073 military packaging requirementsFamiliarity and/or certification shipping hazardous materials and meeting CFR 49/IATA regulationsLean manufacturing experienceExperience with cushion curves and designExperience with shock and vibration testing and analysisExcellent written and verbal communication skills. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
