Position Type: Service PersonnelDate Posted: 6/19/2025Location: Child NutritionClosing Date: 06/27/2025POSITION: Truck Driver IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director Food services FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 261 days annually SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Kanawha County Salary Scale, Pay Grade D commensurate with experience and education level. EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and KCS's Guide to Performance Evaluation for Service Personnel. JOB SUMMARY: Operate a vehicle on the public highways to deliver for Food Services in an accountable manner per assignment by immediate supervisor. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned. Arrives at Crede facility each morning to pick up van. Logs odometer reading and ensures fuel tank has at least a half-tank of gas. Drives to designated preparation kitchen to pick up breakfast and/or lunch meals for the assigned feeding sites. Delivers meal(s) to assigned sites, picks up and/or drops off federal documents and other mail from those sites. Provides a communication link between preparation kitchen, feeding sites and Child Nutrition office. Maintains a strict observance of all highway safety laws and regulations on a daily basis Maintains an organized van and cleans out any excess debris as necessary. Advises immediate supervisor when delivery runs are completed and available for additional assignments.Maintains regular attendance. Maintains a neat and orderly work area. Complies with KCS Policies. Complete necessary training and in-service as required by KCS. Receives permission from building principal/supervisor to work in excess of 40 hours per week. Attends in-services and workshops as directed. Follows all safety rules and regulations and uses prescribed personal protective equipment. Maintains confidentiality. Continuously improves processes. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5; Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c; Meet the definition of "Qualifications" in WV Code §18A-4-8b; demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test) as required. Must have considerable knowledge of driving techniques and road safety practice. Current WV driver's license required. Successful applicant must complete a DMV Background Check in accordance with KCS Fleet Safety Policy. Truck Driver means personnel employed to operate light or heavy duty gasoline and diesel-powered vehicle. Ability to use motor vehicle, hand cart, lift truck and pallet truck. Ability to receive and comprehend oral and written instruction and to work with school personnel.
