To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is currently seeking a Field Service Technician I to join our dynamic and fast-growing team. This is a unique opportunity to further your experience working on electrical equipment in diverse locations across the United States, including power plants, hydroelectric dams, and other large industrial facilities. Our Field Service Technician I performs testing, inspection, and maintenance of low and medium voltage electrical systems in power generation, industrial, and utility facilities. This is an entry-level position focused on learning and skill-building through hands-on support and structured supervision. Preferred Locations: Tulsa, OK Responsibilities: * Assist with inspecting, testing, and maintaining low to high voltage systems (480V-600kV), including switchgear, breakers, transformers, relays, and cables. * Support transformer tests (TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, power factor) using Doble and Megger equipment. * Perform cable testing (VLF, Tan Delta, DC Hi-Pot). * Shadow and assist with relay testing (electromechanical and solid-state). * Help with functional testing of protection and control circuits. * Follow instructions and standard procedures for test plans and documentation. * Use meters to measure voltage, current, and resistance under supervision. * Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals with guidance. * Fill out basic forms, checklists, and service logs. * Support field setups, equipment transport, cable routing, grounding, and labeling. * Follow all safety rules, PPE use, arc flash protection, and job hazard analysis. * Help inspect tools and keep equipment organized. * Travel and work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. * Always follow safe work practices. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED required. * An associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred. * 0-1 years of experience in electrical maintenance, industrial, utility, or military roles. * Familiar with low/medium voltage equipment: switchgear, breakers, transformers, protective devices. * Basic electrical knowledge and strong mechanical skills. * Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. * Understands three-phase systems, grounding, arc flash, and electrical safety basics. * Can read simple one-line diagrams, schematics, and test procedures. * NETA Level II certification or equivalent license (e.g., journeyman) preferred or in progress. * Exposure to PowerDB or similar test software is a plus. * Able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces. * Good communication and teamwork skills; follows directions well. * Strong safety mindset and follows all protocols. Other Requirements: * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, periodic, unannounced random drug tests, and a pre-employment criminal background check. * Must be willing to travel; minimum 75%. * Must be able to drive daily to customer job sites and be available for periodic overnight travel. * Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights. * Must be able to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations. * Must complete annual safety training to remain compliant with company policies and safety regulations. Training may occasionally require travel outside the employee's assigned state or region. * Valid and current driver's license with a clean driving record. * A TWIC card is a plus. Working Conditions: This job requires the ability to respond to 24/7 call-outs and to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Work may be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, near low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment and heavy machinery, in areas with elevations in excess of 100 feet, and confined spaces, adhering to strict safety protocols. Exposure to loud noises from machinery is common, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This job involves the risk of electrical shock. This job requires frequent travel between RMS facilities and customer sites. Physical Requirements: The position demands physical mobility to navigate uneven surfaces, the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, fine motor skills for handling small components and tools, and the capability to climb ladders and work at heights. Sustained physical effort, including standing, bending, pushing, digging, pulling, kneeling, crawling, and reaching for extended periods, is required. Good vision, including color vision and depth perception, and the ability to hear alarms and communications in noisy environments are essential. Additionally, proficiency in speaking, hearing, reading, and typing in English is required for effective communication and documentation.
