JOB SUMMARY: Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the entire service department. Plan and maintain systems and procedures for operating efficiency. Manage staff for optimum performance. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Required to oversee all Ag, Power Equipment and Auto Service activities, programs & projects to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with established specifications, schedules and budgets; coordinate interdepartmental functions to minimize delays; operate within established budgets. Ensure customer s needs are met and completed in timely fashion through day-to-day operation of the service department. Specifically: • Ensure technicians verify customer information as current in the system and on all work orders. • Ability to become an expert on our major vendor s policies (Kubota, AGCO, simplicity, Pottinger). • Work with the Shop Foreman on dispatch and production for AG. • Ensure Warranty work processes are reported and completed as required. • Manage and lead service department staff to provide excellent customer service, making sure all the service standards for all venders have been met. • Maintain strong understanding of the service department financial statement; control controllable expenses; ensure proper collection of payment for work performed. • Ability to accurately provide service estimates. • Ability to fairly respond to customer complaints. • Accurately detail work orders utilizing mechanic information. • Conduct meetings with staff on regular basis to review project status and plan future actions. • Monitor and assist staff with work progress; manage time/job recordings; audit, coach and correct all policy work and unapplied time. • Delegate work to staff to attain daily objectives. • Ensure overall cleanliness of service shop. • Ensure proper function of service tools or machinery. • Coordinate hauling of equipment if necessary. • Approve hours worked, enter leave requests, submit accurate records for payroll processing. • Demonstrates accountability for all safety procedures, leading by example. • Work with the sales department on consistent pricing and deadlines. • Work proactively with parts department in reducing daily freight fees. • Work closely with HR to recruit staff; follow disciplinary courses of action if needed; conduct annual performance reviews for staff. • Back up parts counter. • Ability to close store one evening per week in regular weekly rotation and to act as Manager on Duty in Sunday Retail rotation. • Schedule staff and ensure sufficient coverage of service department. • Perform additional duties as requested. • Regularly scheduled attendance. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Prefer a two (2) year technical degree in an engine service-related field. 2. Minimum of four (4) years experience in service repair field, preferred. 3. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a supervisory role. 4. Familiarity with a variety of engine service-related processes and materials. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 6. Strong, proven leadership skills. 7. Superior customer service skills. 8. Project/program management and implementation skills. 9. Strong problem solving and analysis skills. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: This position is very active and requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching, twisting, squatting, lifting, extending to load items or carry, push or pull items up to 50 lbs.; talk and hear. This job operates in a service setting. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and distance vision. This role uses office equipment such as computers, monitors, phones, printer/copier. Must wear PPE as required in Shop.
