Description TheHead of Capital Marketswill report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for the development and execution of Fervo’s capital strategy to support funding a multi-billion dollar pipeline of enhanced geothermal projects. This position will lead a world-class team that is actively executing several concurrent corporate debt, corporate equity, project debt, project equity, and project tax credit deals and that has raised over $1 billion of capital throughout Fervo’s history. In addition to raising capital, the Head of Capital Markets will be responsible for managing relationships with capital providers and for managing Fervo’s growing portfolio of capital facilities, including monitoring, compliance, governance, and intercompany relationships. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to create, communicate, and execute a vision and strategy for multi-faceted corporate and project capital raises. They will be adept at managing multiple concurrent, highly technical capital transactions; establishing trust and confidence with both internal and external stakeholders; maintaining executive-level relationships with capital providers across the financial spectrum; and responding quickly and effectively to rapidly evolving business opportunities. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a true self-starter with the drive to find, analyze, and close creative capital solutions and with a working style that prioritizes unparalleled levels of vision, collaboration, planning, and communication. Requirements Responsibilities Develop Capitalization Strategy:Create forward-looking 5-yr capitalization plan to fund Fervo’s corporate requirements and project requirements from early development to full-scale construction operations. Create detailed analysis that optimizes the balance between project returns and corporate liquidity. Maintain active capitalization planning document to ensure effective communication of timelines, investor targets, and other planning considerations to executive leadership. Structure, Negotiate and Close Capital Transactions:Oversee, manage, and drive to close multiple concurrent debt, equity, and tax raises across both corporate and project needs. Structure the injection of capital to minimize tax leakage and balance cross-functional operational, commercial, and permitting requirements. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure independent engineering and other pro forma model input analyses are commissioned and completed in line with needs from capital providers. Establish and Lead Fervo’s Capital Portfolio Management Practices:Build, document, and implement internal processes to manage the post-close governance, compliance, and optimization of Fervo’s capital facilities. Work with cross-functional teams to establish requirements and manage the flow of information across FP&A, Treasury, Asset Management, Legal, and other functions. Work with Legal and Accounting teams to ensure shared facility and other affiliate agreements are implemented and tracked correctly. Support Development and Origination Activities:Provide regular, ongoing support and analysis to aid the Development and Origination teams in ensuring projects meet internal return thresholds and that projects are structured to enable bankability. Build and Manage Relationships Across the Financial Ecosystem:Build long-term, enduring relationships with investment banking, advisory, commercial lending, project finance, investor, and other key stakeholders in the financial ecosystem. Required Qualifications 10+ years experience in power-related structured finance, tax equity, investing, investment banking, M&A, corporate capital raises, and other types of financial transactions; ideally with a deep mix of experiences across asset classes Bachelor and/or master’s degree in finance or a relevant field Demonstrated track record of building and executing capital strategies across a variety of corporate and project financial transactions Extraordinary written and verbal communication skills with the ability to seamlessly manage the presentation of complex financial concepts across a broad spectrum of expertise Expert understanding of nuanced financial, tax, and structuring concepts typically found throughout project finance and tax credit transactions High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work and collaborate cross-functionally with little supervision or oversight Strong existing relationships with infrastructure funds, private equity, venture capital, institutional lenders, strategic investors, and a variety of financial advisors Location Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with satellite offices in the Bay Area, CA, Golden, CO and Reno, NV. This position will be eligible for remote work from New York City or another key hub of capital markets activity, but frequent in-office presence at theHoustonoffice will be required.
