This job description outlines the responsibilities and qualifications for a People Coordinator position at JVRG, a multi-unit restaurant group. This role is designed to provide a foundation in various Human Resources functions and can lead to a People Generalist role. The People Coordinator will be a key support to the Director of People Services and will gain experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, policy compliance, and administrative tasks. The position is based onsite at our office and requires travel to different restaurant units. This position is intended to grow into a People Generalist role, taking on additional responsibilities in areas such as benefits administration, performance management, compensation, and employee engagement as the individual gains experience and knowledge.Other duties may be assigned as needed and this list of duties is not intended to be exhaustive for this role. Key Responsibilities: Recruiting and Onboarding: Own recruitment process by posting job advertisements on platforms such as Culinary Agents, Craigslist, and Indeed for all lines of business to ensure consistent and compliant postings across all brands and lines of business. Advise and assist hiring managers on best interviewing and hiring practices Prepare onboarding materials and assist with new hire orientation to ensure a smooth transition into the company. Perform all onboardings and orientation within the JVRG line of business and coordinate the first day with managers and employees.  Employee Relations: Assist the Director of People Services by triaging employee relations issues, such as complaints and conflicts, and answering non-urgent employee questions. Manage and drive employee recognition and engagement programs and initiatives with the Director of People Services oversight Update and maintain the employee communication board content on a monthly basis Respond to inquiries from employees and managers with the resources and information needed or escalate when necessary Training and Development: Coordinate and schedule training sessions for employees at leadership levels, including new manager orientation and ongoing development programs. Track JVRG employee training progress and ensure compliance with required certifications, such as Sexual Harassment and ServSafe. Assist with the implementation and administration of new training programs. Policy and Compliance: Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HR policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal employment laws, including FMLA/CFRA, Reasonable Accommodation, ADA, FLSA/wage-hour laws, EEOC/DFEH/DOJ requirements. Stay up-to-date on HR best practices and legal updates. Audit Attendance and Progressive Discipline Trackers to ensure compliance Aggregate and report data to regulatory agencies, such as BLS and Census as well as workers' comp carriers Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the People Services department, such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and managing correspondence. Support the Director of People Services with various projects and initiatives. Scan, file, organize, and maintain JVRG employee files.  Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including conversations, certifications, performance documentation, and any necessary paperwork. Payroll and Benefits Perform payroll auditing and approval of weekly and biweekly payroll processing Responsible for responding to employee inquiries regarding benefits and providing information and resources to assist employees and troubleshooting Coordinate payroll and benefits administrative tasks with Paychex Payroll and Benefit Specialists  Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred. 1-2 years of experience in a human resources or administrative support role is a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, email, calendar management. Passion for working in the restaurant industry and supporting a positive workplace culture. Spanish language proficiency, must be conversational Must have reliable transportation Other : This is an on-site role, with travel to other company locations. 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00am to 5:30pm FLSA Status : Non-Exempt ($25 -$30/hr)  Physical Demands :  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
