The Manager I, Talent plays a key role in enhancing, expanding, and executing Stop & Shop’s Associate Experience strategy and priorities by building, delivering, enabling, and reporting on practices and programs that drive our leadership behaviors, strengthening our culture, and fulfilling our employee value proposition. This role plays a key part in establishing, executing, maintaining, and continuously improving new hire orientation, onboarding, performance management, development planning, career pathing, talent calibration, mentorship, succession planning, and executive development. This role partners actively with associates and leaders at all levels across HR and the business, including stores, store support teams, distribution, and corporate support and serves as a Talent liaison to global and US priorities and initiatives, ensuring alignment to Stop & Shop talent and business strategies and with adherence to key deliverables and timelines. This position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of individual and organizational talent data and insights and a natural passion to grow our people, obsess over customers, and win together in order to deliver our strategy and purpose. What we ask of you: Performance Management: Communicate, cross-train, implement, and continuously evolve cyclical talent processes including goal setting, annual performance reviews, mid-year evaluations, and individual development planning. Coordinate and prepare executive summary reports including organizational and functional data analysis on performance distribution curves, in collaboration with Total Rewards team and timelines. Talent & Career Development: Create and continuously enhance new hire orientation and onboarding experience for all functions to ignite brand pride, educate about our employee value proposition, and build a sense of belonging. Develop, manage, and maintain mentorship and sponsorship programs throughout exempt populations (stores, store support teams, distribution, and corporate support) to boost the visibility and development of top talent. Manage the identification, selection, and communication of internal and external talent nominations for participation into accelerated development programs. Oversee the execution of consistent global and brand-level leadership development assessment processes and programs that support the identification, selection, and/or development of internal and external talent. Develop and implement initiatives and practices that identify, cultivate, and retain high-potential talent. Solicit, analyze, and routinely summarize accelerated development program feedback from participants, including tracking progress in succession and development plans. Serve as liaison to Global and US brand talent priorities, initiatives, and timelines ensuring alignment to Stop & Shop talent and business strategies and adherence to key deliverables and deadlines. Maintain relationships with internal partners and external vendors, ensuring service-level and quality agreements are met, providing feedback, exploring new or enhanced needs, and ensuring contracts and invoices are up to date. Succession Planning: Collaborate with Director of Associate Experience, VP of Talent, and SVP of HR to plan and execute strategic succession plans for key roles and top talent. Generate and share bi-annual Talent Reviews for calibration and development planning that highlight the health and needs of internal and external talent pipeline. Provide strategic organizational insights to HR Directors and functional leaders on their internal talent development pipeline in line with business strategy, including identification, assessment, and development plans of potential successors for core and key roles. Use data-driven storytelling and insights to influence discussions and decisions in alignment with leadership behaviors, performance standards, and definition of talent potential. Compile and submit executive successor plans to enable global, US, and/or cross-brand talent mobility and growth. What you bring to the table: 5 years of HR experience or relatable experience Bachelor’s degree or similar work experience Preferred experience in Grocery Retail and understanding of the industry Proficiency using HRIS system; SAP SuccessFactors Suite (including Calibration, Goal Setting, Onboarding, Performance, Reporting, and Succession), preferred Broad scope of Talent Management and HR knowledge including in the areas of: Onboarding, Goal Setting, Performance Management, Talent Development, Succession Planning, Associate Relations, Total Rewards (including compensation and benefits), Talent Acquisition, Employment Law, HR Policies, and HRIS Technology. Solid and curious business acumen with ability to provide operational insight and synthesize large quantities of quantitative and qualitative data. Self-motivated self-starter with outstanding organizational skills to drive business objectives and department timelines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written with all levels of leadership and peers. Strong analytical and critical strategic thinking. Advanced project management skills that include conceptualizing, planning, estimating, executing, and evaluating progress and success. Strong process improvement and systems thinking with a proven track record of utilizing continuous improvement evaluation and implementation methodologies as a business practice. Strong and proven time management skills. Outstanding people skills, including the ability to build and maintain trusted working relationships with leaders and associates at all levels. Ability to lead multiple, concurrent priorities. Ability to make decisions requiring complex problem solving.
