This role requires balancing beverage program leadership with daily floor and banquet management. We offer: Competitive pay Quarterly Bonus Potential Medical, dental, and vision insurance Parking and phone allowance 401(k) A dynamic, team-oriented work environment Position Purpose The Beverage Director ensures that the front-of-house team prepares and serves all beverages for guests in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. This position oversees the sommelier, supports FOH leadership, manages banquet beverage operations, and takes an active role on the restaurant floor. Hospitality standards, eye contact, a smile, speaking first, and engaging guests in polite conversation, are expected at all times. Leadership and Team Development Supervise day-to-day beverage operations, communicate objectives, and assign work. Mentor and collaborate with the sommelier to strengthen guest engagement, wine education, and wine sales. Manage, schedule, and oversee bartenders, barbacks, and FOH team members, ensuring proper coverage and labor cost controls. Provide ongoing staff training in beverage knowledge, service standards, speed, and accuracy. Lead tastings and staff education when new cocktails or seasonal menus are introduced. Foster strong team communication between FOH staff, management, and culinary leadership. Program Development and Administration Design and update cocktail menus and wine lists, collaborating with the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Sales/Event Managers for consistency in flavor profiles and menu design. Order liquor, beer, and wine; process purchase orders and invoices promptly. Conduct monthly beverage inventories and maintain wine bin systems. Maintain POS accuracy for menu items, pricing, and reporting. Track and control beverage costs in line with budget goals. Conduct blind cash audits on bartender banks and ensure accurate tip records. Attend weekly/monthly marketing and PR meetings; represent the restaurant in media opportunities and at off-site activations. Utilize vendor and ambassador relationships for sponsorships and activations. Bar and Restaurant Operations Maintain current ABRA license and certifications; ensure all FOH staff are TIPS certified. Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar, dining room, private dining spaces, patio, storage rooms, and manager office. Oversee SOPs for opening, ongoing, and closing bar side work; review nightly closing checklists. Support operations directly by bartending, serving food, changing kegs, or assisting with stocking when needed. Ensure bartenders follow pour specifications and proper recipes. Keep bar equipment (blenders, soda guns, shelving, mixers, stainless steel) clean and in working order. Greet and engage guests, table-touch during service, and ensure guest recovery when necessary. Act as floor sommelier as needed, supporting wine sales and service alongside the sommelier. Assist with guest management, including removal of intoxicated or unruly patrons when required. Oversee banquet beverage programming and implementation. Collaborate with Event Sales Managers to design banquet beverage offerings and amenity options. Manage staffing, logistics, and execution of banquet and private dining beverage service. Qualifications Experience: 5–8 years of beverage management experience in high-volume or luxury hospitality, including FOH and banquet oversight. Knowledge: Deep expertise in beer, wine, spirits, and beverage cost controls. Skills: Strong leadership, staff management, and training skills; hands-on operational experience required. Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, guests, and vendors. Must demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy in all situations. Physical Demands: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; regularly lift/move 25 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs. What We Offer Salary commensurate with experience.
