Our client is seeking an Optical Engineer for a long-term growth opportunity in North Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree (PhD preferred) I the research and development of fiber optics, design, testing, knowledge of waveguides, and research and development. This is a direct hire opportunity and relocation is available as well for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities:Developing measurement techniques for existing and next generation communication optical fibers.Working with test equipment vendors to specify test equipment or develop new test methods and equipment.Hands-on optical fiber characterization to support new product development and new process development.Perform statistical data analysis and develop automation to speed up data collection and data analysis.Collaboration with a diverse global team of engineers and scientists.Understanding of optical fiber waveguides and electromagnetics.Demonstrated skills in developing optical measurements.Hands-on experience with optical fiber characterization and working with fiber optic test equipment, such as lasers, power meters, optical spectrum analyzers, OTDR, etc.experience with scripting/automation/programming tools (e.g. Python, Visual Basic, MatLab/Octave, Labview, C/C++/C#) are beneficial.A working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma techniques is beneficial with prior experience in statistical data analysis and data-based decision making.
