Position SummaryThe Safety Float plays a critical role in supporting a safe, clean, and compliant environment for young children. This individual acts as a roving support across classrooms and shared spaces to maintain licensing compliance, reinforce health and safety practices, and assist in transitions and breaks. The Safety Float ensures children are always properly supervised, ratios are maintained, and classrooms follow established safety protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & SafetyEnsure all children are actively supervised and that staff-to-child ratios are always met, especially during transitions, breaks, and staffing gaps.Act as an extra set of eyes during high-risk times such as outdoor play, meal times, diapering, and nap transitions.Support safe handwashing and hygiene procedures with staff and children.Oversee safety processes at the Center like Name-to-Face and Ouch reportsCompliance SupportRegularly check that safety logs, cleaning charts, and other licensing documentation are complete and accurate.Assist in the setup and resetting of classrooms to meet cleanliness and safety standards.Help prepare for licensing visits or audits by identifying and correcting minor safety/compliance issues.Operational SupportFloat between classrooms to provide coverage during teacher breaks, staff absences, or during transitions such as arrival and dismissal.Assist in cleaning and sanitizing toys, surfaces, and shared materials throughout the day.Help prepare meals or snacks as needed, following food safety and allergy protocols.Team CollaborationModel calm, supportive, and safety-first behavior for staff and children.Provide quick, helpful feedback to classroom staff when safety concerns arise.Work closely with the Center Director and Assistant Director to report any concerns and identify areas for improvement.Position RequirementsQualified candidates will truly love children and enjoy spending their time with children. Qualified candidates will fulfill the following requirement qualifications:Must be able to speak Spanish conversationally.Strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with families and co-workers.Physical ability to perform essential job functions without health restrictions. This includes the ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time, to have unrestricted use of the upper and lower body, hearing and vision within normal ranges to be able to adequately ensure the children's safety, to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, to chase a fleeing child, to join children's play actively, and the ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.Provide a certificate of completion of an approved pediatric first aid and CPR training within 90 days of hire. Employees are responsible for renewing and maintaining a valid, current CPR and pediatric first aid certification at all timesMust have a respect for diversity and recognize that diversity makes our program betterMust have the ability to complete annual required trainings to ensure providing high-quality early educationFamiliarity with childcare licensing requirements, safety protocols, and best practices in early education.Tierra Encantada prefers candidates that have experience and education in early childhood education. Our ideal candidate is patient, flexible, a team player, hard-working, organized, friendly, motivated, and has great communication skills.Compensation & BenefitsThis non-exempt position has an hourly pay range of $16-19 per hour depending on qualifications, education, and experience. Benefits for full-time employees include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid parental leave, 12 paid holidays, 80 hours paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, and discounted childcare. Once a job offer has been accepted, the candidate must pass a background check and fingerprinting.
