13th Street Kitchens, the hospitality group behind Cafe Lift, La Chinesca, and Prohibition Taproom, is looking to add an experienced, creative, and hard-working Chef to head our upcoming Italian Concept. The Chef will work collaboratively as part of the management team to create a unique and memorable dining experience in Philadelphia. Being upbeat and creating a positive work environment is key to succeeding in this role. We operate high volume restaurants that requires the necessary skills to oversee and mentor a team of line cooks, while also working with Front of the House management to ensure the overall success of the restaurant. Candidates must be willing to work in concert with ownership and upper management to achieve all of the combined goals. Most importantly, the Chef must have a strong desire to cook well seasoned, great food, while teaching and sharing knowledge with the kitchen staff. Desired Requirements: A minimum of 3 years of progressive culinary management experience in well-rated restaurants. The ability and desire to work with locally-sourced, seasonal foods, and designing menus based on them. Prior experience and success in running expo in a busy kitchen. Experience with hiring, training and mentoring hourly BOH staff. Strong financial acumen with the proven ability to oversee cost control, labor management and bottom-line profitability. Ability to drive performance and results of a diverse culinary workforce. Availabitlity to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
