Lead Estimator (San Antonio)

We are seeking an experienced Head of Estimation to lead our estimating department and oversee all bid preparation, cost analysis, and pricing strategies for signage installation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in signage installation and preferably experience working with TXDOT projects. This is a leadership role that requires both technical expertise and the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team of estimators while collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and executives. Key Responsibilities Lead the estimation department and manage the full bid process from concept to submission. Prepare accurate cost estimates for signage installation projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop competitive and profitable proposals. Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution. Maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and up-to-date market insights. Oversee pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews to ensure thorough understanding of project requirements. Implement standardized estimating processes, templates, and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy. Monitor industry trends, TXDOT specifications, and regulatory requirements affecting pricing and project feasibility. Mentor and develop junior estimators, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Qualifications Required: Minimum 7+ years of experience in signage installation estimation, with a proven track record of managing competitive bids. Preferred: Prior experience working on TXDOT-related projects or within DOT-compliant environments. Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and signage installation methods. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to break down complex projects into accurate cost components. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel; experience with construction management platforms is a plus. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
