Director, Business DevelopmentDepartment: 31 - Performance Enzyme Commercial OpsEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Redwood City, CADescriptionCodexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire a Director, Business Development.Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. Codexis enzymes can drive improvements, such as higher yields, reduced energy usage and waste generation, improve efficiency in manufacturing and greater sensitivity in genomic and diagnostic applications. They will be focused on calling on new Pharma/Biotech clients that will drive profitable growth of the company. This role will be based in Redwood City, CA or Remote in the United States if not local to Redwood City.If any of the below describes you, we would love to meet you!Excellent CommunicationExtrovertCritical ThinkingEmotional IntelligenceIn this role you will be responsible for:Proactively engage in business opportunities by prospecting and calling on Pharmaceutical & Biotech companies.Identify and build relationships with key decisions makers and influencers.Secure new business through understanding of customers' needs and creating a value proposition that is win-win.Achieve sales targets by winning new business.Understanding of the RNA market space, such as market dynamics, trends, competitors, and FDA.Perform strategic & tactical account planning, management & execution.Ability to travel both internationally and domestically to engage with customers.The essential requirements of the job include:Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech CDMO services.Minimum of 10 years business development, sales or account management experience.BS, BA, MS, MA in business, marketing, chemistry, biology or relevant field.Ideally, has a network of contacts, positive relationships and contracting experience.Proficient in SFDC or customer relationship tools.Additional experience that would be valuable for this role includes:Located near Pharma hub (San Diego, Boston, Princeton)CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $195,000 to $244,000.
