SusieCakes is currently looking for someone to manage, lead, and grow their Commissary location in the Bay Area! The qualified candidate should have experience managing a direct team, knowledge of the food industry or baking, be open to a flexible work schedule, and be able to commute to the city. This occurs through proper forecasting, cost analysis, planning, staffing, & purchasing.(*bakery location(s) the commissary supports with baked goods)Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:ProductEnsures each satellite bakery is fully stocked with products at all timesEnsures quality of all baked goods produced at Commissary are 100% up to standardsEnsures products are leaving Commissary properly handled & in a timely manner to get to satellites with ample time prior to openingEnsures food costs at Commissary meet or exceed budgetOperationsWrites culinary schedules to ensure proper allocation of resources, coverage and training. Ensures operational efficiencies and enforces appropriate standards.Observes culinary operations and makes recommendations for improving efficiencies to VP of CulinaryOperates a seamless production environment by adhering to all SOPs and recipesPeopleServes as a coach and is involved (and present for) all stages at Cake Kitchen. Ensures follow up on Clear Company talent queueApproves 30-day reviews and annual performance appraisals (VP of Culinary continues to support delivery of corrective/performance documentation and other difficult conversations)Trains team members in accordance with checklists and training trackerMentors and leads team members, develops skills, knowledge, efficiencies, and abilitiesDevelops, implements and monitors development and 2x2 succession plans.Reviews and approves labor schedules in accordance with labor budgetOversees ordering and inventory using order guides and month-end inventoryManages shelf life and production waste and works with GMs to manage pars accordinglyWorks with VP of Culinary (who is the final authority) to accept out of the ordinary product requests or turning down ordersEquipment, Maintenance & SafetyEnsures a clean, organized and safe bakery work environmentFirst point of contact for equipment issues; troubleshoots and if necessary, sends request to the VP of Culinary for approvalCommunicationReads waste log on a weekly basis and follows up with VP of CulinaryHolds daily pre-shifts with the CAK team to assure menu transitions, internal notes updates, recipes changes and all Company communication is communicatedTrainingOversees training plans for implementation, training and testing of culinary technique and product executionSupports the training of all new CT team membersManages all CT Training TrackersAbility to transport product and make deliveries when neededArranges coverage for leave of absences, vacations, staffing voids and other extenuating circumstancesLives and models the SC mission, values and goals dailyOther projects and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of SusieCakesAbility to work in multiple regional locationsQualificationsProvides solution-oriented recommendationsAbility to be forward-thinking in staffing planning and prepAbility to problem-solve in the moment and plan for market needs versus working a shiftLeads by example - commands respect through knowledge and leadership styleHolds team members accountable for action and behaviorsStrong working knowledge of the SusieCakes SOPsAbility to gain trust and confidence with team membersMust have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s licensePhysical RequirementsFrequent walking, kneeling, bending and reaching overheadMust be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 poundsMust be able to sit down for long periods of time to use a computerIn accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $80,000 and $90,000 per year.
