He/she is the primary support to the Store Manager and is responsible for managing the store (wall to wall) in the Store Manager’s absence. The Assistant Store Manager is the person who must meet the financial and operational performance standards set by the Store Manager and Company for the Grocery Department, this includes effective category management. He/she models professional leadership and behaviors when managing people and dealing with customers with a focus on developing staff and self-learning.Essential Functions:Manage and supervise the Grocery Department, Front End and Load Crew to achieve optimum performance and gainAchieve operational goals for the Grocery department within the financial budgetManage store (wall to wall) in Store Manager’s absenceEnsure all administrative duties are completed and operational issues are addresses as neededEnsure staff development and training so that superior customer service is achievedEnsure personal development so that superior customer service is achievedEnsure compliance with policies and government requirements for the entire storePerform other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibility:Receiving and Night Crew Managers, Grocery Head Clerks, Department Managers, Dairy, Frozen, Night Crew, Scan Coordinators, Wine Clerks, Cashiers and Courtesy ClerksSupervise all store staff in the absences of Store ManagerMinimum Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years management experience in another food-related/retail siteIntermediate Computer skills with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word and OutlookAbility to pass a background and credit checkPreferred Qualifications:4-year college degree in Business Administration or a related field1-2 years experience at Mollie Stone’s Markets with a “person-in-charge” roleCompetencies:Strong written and oral communication skillsProfessionalismLeadership skills with the ability to motivate others to succeedAbility to delegateAbility to work in a team environment with a diverse group of staffPersonal integrity and ability to create a high level of credibility with employees and customersPhysical Requirements:Lifting: min. of 50lbsStanding: FrequentlySeating: OccasionallyWalking: FrequentlyReaching: FrequentlyTravel Requirements:Some travel may be requiredCompensation:Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000/year - Depending on Industry ExperienceOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
