The connected platform is easy to use, secure, and scalable, enabling owners, operators, and their tenants to prepare their buildings for tomorrow's challenges.About the RoleAs our client expands their integrations with existing building systems, the ability to connect buildings to their cloud infrastructure is critical to this mission. They’re looking for a startup-minded engineer who can push this vision forward.As a Senior Embedded Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the sensor platform. Leveraging your expertise in embedded systems, firmware development, and IoT connectivity, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and test firmware solutions. Your contributions will ensure the reliability, security, and seamless integration of the products within their IoT ecosystem.This is a hybrid position, requiring one to two days per week in their San Francisco office.Role ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize Linux-based embedded systems for the sensor terface with hardware design teams.Broad system ownership: as a member of a small, focused firmware team, you will be responsible for all aspects of building and shipping embedded code:Build and test: test your own code, push toward build and test automation.Troubleshooting and debugging: both during development and in the field.Documentation: Create design specifications, technical manuals, and user guides to facilitate firmware development and maintenance.Performance Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and optimize firmware code to improve overall system performance, memory utilization, and power efficiency within the context of IoT applications.Field Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve issues related to device functionality when deployed in the field. Collaborate with field engineers and customers to diagnose and resolve software-related problems, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.About YouBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience (8+ years) in Linux embedded systems development.Solid programming experience with C++, C, and Python.Strong proficiency in low-level programming languages such as C.Familiarity with debugging tools, emulators, and oscilloscopes for hardware/software troubleshooting.Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Additional Valuable SkillsFamiliarity with device bootloaders and over-the-air firmware updates.Experience integrating on-device ML models.Experience working with distributed teams.Generous time-off policies and paid holidaysCompetitive total compensation with equityHealth benefits (medical, dental, vision) and 401(k) program starting on day oneUp to 12 weeks paid parental leaveMonthly stipend to support home internet and cell phone for work purposesMonthly in-office lunches and happy hoursLearning and development supportHybrid work environment with only one mandatory day per week in officeFrom Tangerine Search:Tangerine Search is an equal opportunity agency that values diversity.
