Civil Transportation Engineer - Principal Engineer JN -062025-161190 We are seeking a Senior Traffic Civil Engineer with strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a forward-thinking mindset. This role involves collaboration with staff, consultants, and regional partners such as Caltrans and SACOG to develop and implement intelligent transportation systems, multi-modal networks, and smart city technologies. Responsibilities Plan, organize, review, and supervise engineering tasks. Oversee projects involving design, surveying, testing, and construction of public infrastructure: roads, pathways, drainage, bridges, traffic systems, and smart networks. Lead complex planning studies and initiatives. Coordinate development services, review applications, and prepare approval conditions. Perform advanced engineering duties within the area of responsibility. Support management administratively and technically. Fulfill additional duties within the Public Works Department. Requirements Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in California and/or TE Certification. Preferred: PTOE certification. 8-10 years of civil engineering experience, preferably at a senior or principal level. Supervisory experience required. Experience managing stakeholders. Expertise in engineering design and grant management. Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field. Valid California driver’s license.
