This position will report to our Director & Assistant General Counsel, Privacy. As a member of the Privacy team, you will provide legal counsel to several business partners as well as support the privacy compliance program for Databricks.You will be agile, highly organized, and have the skills, drive, and flexibility to support and accelerate a leading technology company, addressing cutting-edge legal issues and organizational challenges. A successful candidate will be a resourceful self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and excellent at building strong relationships.The Impact You Will HaveAdvisory Role. Advise cross-functional stakeholders on potential privacy risks and regulatory requirements, including Technology, Security, and People Teams.Privacy Program Compliance. Provide guidance to support further development, implementation, and maintenance of the Databricks privacy program, including data subject rights requests, data inventory, privacy by design, policies, and help operate and improve the effectiveness of critical privacy compliance processesContract Negotiation and Transactions. Counsel and advise on data protection-related provisions in commercial contracts, including updating templates for and negotiating data processing addendums and business associate agreements.Privacy by Design and Risk Assessments. Advise business units on privacy legal considerations for new systems, features and system updatesPolicy Development. Develop, review, and update privacy policies, programs, and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practicesRegulatory Analysis. Research and evaluate the applicability and impact of global privacy laws, legislation, and regulatory guidance on new business initiatives and processes.Training/Cross Functional Collaboration. Build cross-functional relationships with business teams as well as other internal stakeholders. Provide strategic and timely client training on relevant issues and processes to ensure ongoing privacy compliance.Basic Qualifications And Experience5+ years of experience at a nationally-recognized law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of bothIdeally 3 or more years specializing in privacy legalDeep understanding of cloud and software technology, and a strong desire to work on legal issues in these areasExperience working for a company offering platform services to business customers is a plusJ.D. from a top-tier law schoolMember of a state bar in good standingYou can build strong and deep working relationships with internal stakeholders over multiple geographical locations.You are able to understand challenging issues, assess risk, and provide concise, actionable, business-focused legal advice and counsel.You can coordinate, prioritize, and manage deadlines, workflow, and execute in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.You are a self-starter with the capability to operate independently and to interact confidently with senior management when required.You have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage many cross-functional projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.Pay Range TransparencyDatabricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents the expected salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks anticipates utilizing the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
