From our offices in London, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Seoul, we design signs, maps, screens and digital applications and produce everything needed from brand guidelines to industrial design specifications, and governance strategies to smartphone apps.About The RoleAs part of our successful growth in the United States and Canada we are seeking a Design Director to assume a pivotal role in the end-to-end execution of wayfinding and information design projects, for both interior and exterior environments, overseeing the full project lifecycle, from concept to delivery.This role will represent Applied as a professional coordinator and advisor to ensure effective, high quality delivery of prepared design work.Based in San Francisco, we require a leader who can orchestrate the successful execution of complex wayfinding and information design projects. Their expertise, creativity, and commitment to excellence lead projects towards the achievement of the three critical deliverables: Quality, Efficiency, and Budget. Related to this there will be opportunities to travel for projects and inter-company events.ResponsibilitiesTypically both the Project Lead and discipline lead on a project.Can play the Creative Director role depending on project team structureOversee the delivery of projects from conception to production with minimal supervision.Typically delegate tasks involved in the project delivery to the wider team and have an oversight and support rolePlay an active role liaising with relevant sub-contractors and suppliersPlay a lead role in internal and external workshops with project teams and stakeholders as neededPlay a lead role alongside the Account Manager/Project Manager in client communications / liaisonAlongside the AM develop positive relationships with existing clients and grow potential for future projects.Work with Account/Project managers and others as needed to set up full project plans for project teams, including: objectives, milestones, priorities, team, calendar and nature of deliverablesPlay a lead role with the AM/PM in monitoring project scope creep and defining costs and schedule changes for negotiation with clientsBalance multiple priorities by considering risk, importance, level of urgency, political impacts and other linkagesPlay a leading role in presenting project work to clients and stakeholdersEnsure project deliverables align to the client’s business needs.Line management for less experienced staff/teams.What we offerExcellent Medical and Dental benefits package for employees and family401KMicro Kitchen17 days paid vacation + public holidays + Up to 3 paid vacation days for completed years servicePaid sick days - Accrual methodTraining and Development budget1 paid day a year to volunteer for charity of choiceOpportunities to travel to travel globally for projectsFlexibility for hybrid workingHow we hireWe are fully committed to advancing individual, social and environmental equality.
