Our Preppies receive the highest level of academic preparation through standards-based instruction, daily targeted interventions, and meaningful assessments.Social-emotional learning. We have always had a dual mission of academic and social-emotional skill development. Our research-based SEL curriculum is integrated into daily instruction, helping students leverage their personal values to strengthen their self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision-making skills and create a school-wide culture of empathy and mitment to reflection and refinement. Achieving that goal requires an incredible team, and our Director of Talent Management will play a pivotal role in our efforts to attract, develop, and sustain the talent required to do this important work. They will play a lead role in building DC Prep’s adult culture through onboarding and celebrations, and support the performance management cycle for non-instructional staff. This person’s portfolio of work will be multi-faceted, requiring outstanding listening and collaboration skills.This role reports to the Senior Director of Talent. A full-time, 12-month role, the nature of this role requires travel across DC Prep’s 6 campuses; it may periodically require attending early morning or evening meetings. You are willing to dive into any situation, work on any challenge, and explore all opportunities to ensure our students are best served.THE DAY-TO-DAYResponsibilities of the Director of Talent Management will include but are not limited to:Ensuring ongoing measurement and analysis of employee engagement and satisfaction through careful design and implementation of feedback channels, including staff surveys, new hire and exit interview protocolsLead day-to-day execution of the staff onboarding processes to build knowledge of and pride in DC Prep with support from a cross-functional team including Ops, People Ops, Schools & Program, including Mid-Year Onboarding & NTODesigning and implementing strategies and opportunities to celebrate impact and Values, and build organizational pride through:All-org Events (e.g., August Orientation Kickoff, start-of-year party, end-of-year party, holiday party) designed and executed in partnership with OperationsAwards (Bold Schools celebration, Values Awards, Years of Service awards)Organization-wide gifts and swagLeading the Home Office Culture Club and biweekly HuddlesOverseeing the performance evaluation system for non-instructional staffCoordinating the creation and refinement of competency mapsRecommending improvements based on analysis and trendsEnsuring the evaluation process happens with fidelityLeading recruitment and selection process for Home Office and Operations positionsQualificationsDemonstrated belief in DC Prep’s Vision, Mission and Values5+ years of recruitment experience, preferably for a high performing school networkTrack record of delivering high-quality work against ambitious goalsBachelor’s DegreeExceptional interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills with staff at all levelsOutstanding problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate nuanced situations and conversations with a variety of stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized; able to convert many moving pieces into a plan that is clear, simple, and accessibleOptimistic, mature, flexible, hungry to grow and improveDeep familiarity with urban school systems and/or urban teaching experience in a high-performing school strongly preferredEssential FunctionsRecruitment Team members must be able to report to any of DC Prep’s six campusesAdditional responsibilities may arise during the school year. This could include: out of state/offsite trainings or recruitment events as well as morning or evening duties at a DC Prep campus.
