Our environment of entrepreneurial spirit, culture of expertise and our people-first approach will allow you to thrive while continuing to grow in your career.Position SummaryThe AVP, Portfolio Management will assist the Portfolio Manager(s) in overseeing their respective portfolios on behalf of Berkshire.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:The AVP, Portfolio Management will participate in decision making with the Portfolio Manager(s) in all aspects of effectively overseeing their respective portfolios including but not limited to the following:Annual Portfolio Business Plan, which includes long-term and tactical strategiesInvestment selection for portfolioInvestment management and disposition strategyClient relationship management and communicationCash management – capital calls/distributionsFinancing strategy for portfolio and propertiesInternal/Investor reporting and meetingsProvide analytical support as requested by Portfolio Manager(s)Work with client directly and with client’s consultants, including tax, if necessaryPrepare Annual Property Business Plans, with oversight by Portfolio ManagerWork with Portfolio Manager on impact of tactical changes to Property and Portfolio Business Plans on projected performance as per Portfolio ModelMonitor, oversee and report on Property Management’s execution of business plansPrepare monthly and quarterly performance reports for management and investors with approval by Portfolio ManagerVisit markets and properties to validate business plan assumptions, monitor property operations, and identify opportunities and issues in order to improve operationsBenchmark property performance against industry and peersBudget review, oversight, and analysisStay abreast of relative market information for all markets related to the portfolio. Work closely with Berkshire’s Research team to stay abreast of their viewpoint and recommended course of action for each market they coverWork with Portfolio Valuation & Analytics Group in quarterly property valuationsConsistently demonstrate use of tact and discretionKnowledge/Experience:At least seven (7) years of experience in the real estate industryPrevious experience in portfolio management preferred, asset management or acquisitionsAbility to identify problems early and solve them effectively with minimal assistanceExperience with multifamily value creation opportunities and the ability to act on them through othersHave the ability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships with a range of individuals including Clients, Portfolio Reporting, Portfolio Valuation and Analytics, Property Management and Acquisitions and DispositionsAbility to take direction from multiple sources while effectively managing multiple, changing prioritiesAbility to assess and quantify riskReal estate accounting and tax knowledge a plusDemonstrated management skills with track record of building teams and identifying, mentoring, and growing talent in-person and virtualAptitude for organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple priorities, using critical thinking and problem solvingDemonstrated multi-modal communication style that reaches every stakeholder, specifically excellent verbal, and written communicationsCollaborative working style with inclusive work and thinking behaviors, commitment to excellence in teams and work product, with a strong work ethicProficiency and willingness to adopt new systems and processesDemonstrate emotional intelligence in high pressure and sensitive situationsAbility to see, analyze and understand business dealings in terms of the overall business planTenacity, patience, and perseverance to work with business deals from beginning to end of processRepresent the Berkshire employment brand well to candidates by seeking to understand the capabilities and insights of people with unique backgrounds, cultures, styles, and abilitiesMaintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communications of informationDevelop productive working relationships with all team members including internal clients and external third partiesDemonstrated high level of ethics and integrity with a straightforward and honest approachTechnical/Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. MBA, related Master’s degree or CFA a plusExperience with Yardi, Argus and other asset management applications, a plusDemonstrated advanced financial modeling and Excel skills requiredDemonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs)Proficiency with computers, keyboards, monitors and telephone headsets.Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, Power Point) including ability to perform excel modeling including cash flow modeling and various return calculations and analysisBerkshire Residential offers an excellent benefits package, focusing on our employees’ total health and wellness.
