Join to apply for the Director, Mission Architecture role at Maxar Space Systems.Please review the job details below.OverviewMaxar Space is seeking a Director of Mission Architecture who will be responsible for working with business development leads and program managers to develop mission and satellite system solutions that meet intelligence or defense requirements. This role is based in our Palo Alto, CA offices and may be performed remotely within the U.S., with frequent travel to Palo Alto and customer locations. You will help develop campaign strategy and lead the definition of the systems architecture, mission specifications, and working parameters that will flow into the technical baseline for satellite bus, payloads, ground architecture, cybersecurity, and command and control.ResponsibilitiesProviding overall technical leadership and applying engineering knowledge to large and/or complex programs in the design, development, test and integration of complex, specialized products and/or technologiesDeveloping the technical baseline consistent with win strategy including subcontractor capabilities and technologiesCollaborating with Program Managers and program team members to develop system level requirements and translate those into specific requirements for product developmentLeading the development of system architecture and system design documentationProviding technical oversight and review support to development groups during program design and developmentDeveloping mission level test methodologies for verification and validation of system requirementsPreparing supporting documentation beginning with concept development, proposal writing of the technical volumes, operational concepts, and test methodsWorking with Program Managers to develop initial program schedules and budgetsMinimum RequirementsMust be a U.S. citizen with an active TS security clearanceBS degree in an engineering field or related field; Master’s degree preferred15 years of related experience in a technical capacity, including experience with Intelligence or Defense programsKnowledge and experience in satellite constellation architecture including orbit definition, mission concepts of operations, satellite systems design, analysis, integration, and verificationKnowledge and experience in the design, analysis, integration and/or test of mission-critical hardwareMicrosoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)Experience working with customers, subcontractors and vendors at various levels, both technical and business relationshipsStrong leadership with excellent communication, initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize tasks; willingness to learn and adaptExperience with project management practicesAbility to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently and work under pressure to meet deadlinesPay TransparencyIn support of pay transparency at Maxar, salary ranges are disclosed on all U.S. job postings. Starting pay is determined based on job-related factors including experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, location, and market conditions.The base pay for this position within Colorado: $161,000.00 - $267,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within New Jersey: $161,000.00 - $267,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $176,000.00 - $294,000.00 annually.The base pay for this position within California: $185,000.00 - $307,000.00 annually.For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and each location may have a different range.BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, health and welfare insurance, and a 401(k) plan to eligible employees.
