Come join us, and find out what the best work of your career could look like for you.ResponsibilitiesComplete Building Services, (CBS) is currently seeking a full-time Stationary Engineer's, DC 3rd Class, in support of a large campus in Washington, DC.The 3rd Class Steam Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of steam generation systems, ensuring compliance with District of Columbia (DC) regulations and facility standards. This role includes monitoring and adjusting equipment, conducting chemical analysis, and maintaining detailed operational logs to optimize plant efficiency, reliability, and safety. The position requires technical expertise in steam and cooling systems and involves troubleshooting, training, and supporting plant operations.Responsible for for starting, stopping, and monitoring equipment, ensuring safe and efficient plant Read gauges and meters, record operational activities, and analyze trends for system Utilize computerized monitoring systems to measure and control steam plant operations.Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtimeConduct chemical analysis and maintain chemisrty logs for steam, cooling, and condensate systemsAdjust chemical treatment programs to optimize system efficiency and equipment longevityAssist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and propose improvements to enhance plant performanceEnsure compliance with all DC laws, regulations, and plant procedures regarding steam system operations.Follow safety protocols and best practices to maintain a secure working environment.Identify and address potential safety risks and operational inefficiencies.Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on steam generation systems and associated equipment.Resolve complex technical issues, escalating only when necessaryServe as a technical resource for plant operations, offering expertise and guidance to team membersQualificationsHigh School degree or equivalentMust possess a valid stationary engineer's license equivalent to Class 3 Steam Engineer (DC)Minimum years (5) years of experience in steam plant operationsMinimum 3-5 years of experience in steam plant operations, chemical analysis, and troubleshootingExperience with computerized monitoring systems and automated control technologies.Strong knowledge of DC regulatory requirements for steam systems.Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs for industrial equipment.Technical expertise in steam generation, condensate recovery, and cooling system operations.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting plant issues.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), andBMS (Building Management Systems).Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.Ability to train, mentor, and guide junior team members in technical and safety practices.Strong verbal and written communication skills for record-keeping and reporting.Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
