Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and bringing your whole self to work.The Test Operations Department at Northrop Grumman Oceanic Systems in Annapolis, MD is seeking a dependable Principal Test Engineer to support our hydrostatic test operations team at the Deep Ocean Test Facility (DOTF).The Principal Test Engineer will interface with multiple disciplines and customer technical community members in support of executing hydrostatic pressure testing of prototype and production hardware. This position requires operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical lab equipment, pressure chambers, and facilities, as well as consistent compliance with test specifications and procedures.What You’ll Get to Do:Design, develop, and implement testing methods and pile data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.Support technicians through troubleshooting and training.Test facility operations.Test facility hands-on maintenance.Test facility design upgrades.The successful candidate will possess analytical skills to review requirements, test plans, and test scenarios. He or she will have the ability to effectively communicate and work with other DOTF personnel as well as customer representatives. He/she should also be self-directed, organized, and team-oriented.Operating tests may require working off-shift hours and/or on the weekend approximately 20% of the time.Basic Qualifications for a Principal Test Engineer:Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline plus 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience OR Associate of Science degree in a STEM discipline plus 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience OR a High School Diploma plus 9 years of relevant manufacturing experience.Experience operating and maintaining hydrostatic test systems.Experience operating and troubleshooting hydraulic or pneumatic systems.Ability to work off-shift hours and/or on the weekend approximately 20% of the time.Active TS/SCI clearance with current CI polygraph (US Citizenship is required).Preferred Qualifications:Experience with fabrication using manual machining equipment (mill, drill press, lathe).Prior military experience.Experience with testing of fiber optics cables and devices.Experience with National Instruments products, specifically Lab View.Salary Range: $95,800 - $143,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
