Power Electronics Engineer – Battery Charger DevelopmentOn-siteHardware EngineeringAbout the RoleWe are looking for a skilled Power Electronics Engineer to join our hardware development team with a focus on the design, prototyping, and validation of high-efficiency battery charger systems. You will be responsible for architecting robust power conversion topologies, selecting components, and ensuring regulatory compliance for chargers integrated into our next-generation battery-powered products.You will work closely with embedded firmware developers, battery management system engineers, and product teams to deliver reliable and scalable charger solutions for mass production.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, simulate, and validate AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion topologies (e.g., flyback, LLC, buck, boost, PFC).Develop and optimize battery charging circuits for lithium-based chemistries and across various voltage and current ranges.Select power components (MOSFETs, IGBTs, magnetics, capacitors, gate drivers) based on efficiency, thermal performance, and cost trade-offs.Demonstrated experience with GaN or SiC power semiconductors in charger or power supply development.Lead schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component derating for charger hardware.Collaborate with firmware engineers on real-time control loops, current limiting, fault detection, and thermal management strategies.Conduct laboratory validation, stress testing, and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews.Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC, safety, and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO).Support integration of charging systems with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and overall product architecture.Job requirementsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.3+ years of experience in power electronics design, with a focus on battery charger, power supply development or inverter designStrong proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink).Hands-on experience with switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and digital/analog control of converters.Familiarity with thermal design, PCB layout best practices, and power stage protection circuits.Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and thermal chambers.Preferred QualificationsExperience in systems over 60V and multi-kW charger design.Background in EV charging, robotics, drones, or industrial energy systems.Knowledge of functional safety, isolation requirements, and fail-safe system design.Exposure to firmware-controlled digital power systems (DSPs, microcontrollers, FPGAs).Experience with design for EMC and compliance testing.We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single qualification.Location PolicyWe believe the best work is done when collaborating and therefore require in-person presence in our office locations.We're excited to get to know you and the prospects of having you on board!orExplore Careers at 1X.Our mission is to design Androids that work alongside people, to meet the world’s labor demands and build an abundant society. #J-18808-Ljbffr
