Advanced Sensing and Controls Engineering Program Manager, Apple HomeLead cross-functional programs in advanced sensing and controls within Apple’s Home team, driving sensor fusion, data analysis, and control system development from concept to scalable deployment. Partner with hardware, software, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-performance, optimized product solutions that enhance the Apple home experience. This role is providing a unique opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with program management skills and executives exposure.DescriptionAs an Advanced Sensing and Controls Engineering Program Manager (EPM) within Apple’s Home team, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of cutting-edge sensing and controls initiatives. This includes driving programs from concept and modeling, through proof-of-concept demonstrations, system architecture definition, verification and validation, and optimization for scalability. Your scope will span both controls development and advanced sensing, partnering with engineering teams to develop controls algorithms, sensor fusion algorithms, analyze and interpret multi-modality datasets, and optimize sensor constellations & control loops for performance, robustness, and efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and infrastructure, as well as with other Apple organizations and external suppliers, to ensure technical excellence and timely delivery. You will be responsible for managing and prioritizing risks, championing Agile software development practices, and ensuring clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders across the organization.ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end program execution, defining scope, schedules, milestones, and budgetsDrive sensing-related workstreams, including:Development and integration of sensor fusion algorithmsSensor data analysis and interpretation to guide system performance improvementsOptimization of sensor constellation configurations for coverage, redundancy, and accuracyDrive controls-related workstreams from requirements definition through validation and scalingIdentify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks and dependenciesTranslate high-level system requirements into detailed software, sensing, and control specificationsLead technical design reviews, ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, and safety targetsCommunicate program status, critical issues, and risk mitigation strategies to leadership and stakeholdersEstablish and refine development processes, test strategies, and validation plans for sensing and controls domainsIntegrate supplier and vendor deliverables into the overall program planMinimum QualificationsBS engineering degree required in mechatronics, systems engineering, software engineering, sensing, controls or related engineering fieldsSeveral years of project management experienceProven track record managing complex engineering programs from concept through deliveryEnjoys navigating ambiguous situations, leveraging informed assumptions and structured validation paths to bring clarity and drive decisive progressExceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skillsSelf-starter with strong problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and sound judgmentDeep understanding of product development lifecycles and processesIdentify risks, Understand technical issues & complex design trade-offs. Drive to closure by bringing together key stakeholders; facilitating decision-making to meet overall project objectivesExperience and familiarity with consumer electronic industryPreferred QualificationsStrong understanding of control systems design, implementation, and optimizationExperience with sensor fusion, signal processing, or multi-modal data analysisHighly disciplined in workflow, process, and staying organized on priority tasksSuperior attention to detail with a strong commitment to rigor and excellenceSelf motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilitiesUnderstands and deals well with rapid development cycles and constant change; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertaintyAbility to travel internationally to support buildsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $172,100 and $305,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
