Department: Hardware EngineeringLocation: Somerville, MAName of Employer: Formlabs, Inc.Position Title: Senior Mechanical EngineerPosition Location: 35 Medford St., Somerville, MA 02143Duties:Design and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical systems using mechanical engineering intuition, training, and acquired skills.Implement knowledge of manufacturing techniques to design mass-manufacturable components and assemblies.Participate in engineering design reviews and contribute to the success of other mechanical engineers' work.Follow the company’s documented 3D CAD Best Practices to ensure models are suitable for collaborative environments.Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations using company software tools.Make predictive forecasts on product performance based on engineering intuition, training, and skills.Conduct testing to validate engineering analysis and assumptions using prototyping and testing equipment.Create designs that meet or exceed performance requirements, comparing test results against specifications.Participate in the company’s Intellectual Property proceedings in collaboration with legal and IP anize and prioritize workload using tools like Asana, JIRA, etc.Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) from CAD systems.Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to identify vendors and incorporate feedback for Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA).Maintain digital drawings at the correct revision level.Provide troubleshooting support to manufacturing lines.Address Incoming Quality Control (IQC) issues promptly to maintain schedules.Travel approximately 10% to support prototype builds and product transitions.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Four years of experience in designing, assembling, testing, and evaluating 3D printers.Experience with CAD for designing parts and creating engineering drawings.Experience integrating thermal, optical, sensor, and control systems into designs.Proficiency in creating high-volume, high-performance products using various manufacturing methods.Prototyping, testing, and fabricating mechanical components, integrating with electronics and software.Maintaining accurate design documentation with PLM and PDM systems.To apply, send resumes to Kelly Fagan at 35 Medford St. Ste. 301, Somerville, MA 02143 or .
