Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity, and bringing your whole self to work.The Tactical Surveillance Mission Platforms (TSMP) Operating Unit has an immediate need for a Consulting Chief Engineer to lead and develop a portfolio of next generation maritime RF sensor systems and mission solutions.What You'll Get To Do:The Consulting Chief Engineer has technical authority across all engineering disciplines and leads the engineering teams managing the technical performance of the products/programs. The Chief Engineer will oversee and advise multiple program teams and may be the primary technical point-of-contact to the customer. More details below:Roles and Responsibilities:Ensures that programs adhere to sound engineering processes and comply with company policy, procedures, and quality standards.Maintains cognizance over technical activities within programs Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensures horizontal integration of best engineering practices.Mentors other Chief Engineers, SEIT Leads, and Senior IPT leaders.Supports sustainment, development, and large production programs with established or state-of-the-art processes in risk assessment.Maintains knowledge of current and developing technologies and develops strategies for their insertion into sensors.Guides system implementation approaches for operational concepts.Leads technical work products developed by engineering teams, supporting design reviews and integration activities.Supports the design and development of sensor system architectures; oversees hardware/software design.Conducts verification and validation test activities.Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, and requirements allocation.Ensures close customer cooperation to meet expectations.Provides presentations to customers and senior management.The ideal candidate has recent experience in maritime mission CONOPS for RF sensor development and manufacturing.Leads cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases.Supports proposal development and new program acquisition terprets statements of work assigned by program terfaces with program offices and functional departments to secure team staffing.Works with suppliers to articulate project requirements.Briefs internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 16 years of related experience, a Master’s degree with a minimum of 14 years of related experience, or a PhD with a minimum of 12 years of related experience in relevant technical fields. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.U.S. Citizenship with a current/active interim Secret clearance (must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance).Must be able to obtain and maintain SAP access(es).Experience in systems development, integration, and test.Experience leading technical teams.Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements.Knowledge of earned value management.Willingness to work on-site full-time.Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Radar Systems and Architecture, with experience in relevant radar modes.Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.Domain expertise in defense electronic systems and RF systems (7+ years).Prior leadership experience in Chief Engineer role or equivalent (5+ years).Full life cycle experience developing, integrating, and deploying maritime RF systems.Ability to monitor hardware and software design teams effectively.Knowledge of model-based systems engineering principles and practice.Excellent decision-making and communication skills.Team players with a strong work ethic and initiative.Current/active Secret, Top Secret clearance, SAP access(es), and/or SCI access.Salary Range: $197,500 - $296,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
