Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As part of a small, hardworking, passionate and highly skilled team, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new manufacturing, inspection, and refurbishment processes for composite structures and assemblies.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support design, analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary composite structuresEstablish inspection and acceptance criteria for composite structuresPerform research, develop concepts, and run trade studiesCreate test plans, specifications, and other documentation for the development of flight hardwareProvide technical guidance for integration and refurbishmentProvide manufacturing and production supportSupport configuration development and trade studiesParticipate in subsystem test planning, execution, data reduction and analysisWork with multi-functional teams that are responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers to produce world class aerospace hardwareDevelop material specifications and manage suppliersPlan, coordinate, conduct tests, and review test dataParticipate in the development and purchase of new equipment and tooling.Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget and technical statusCoach, mentor and technically assist other engineersFind opportunities for improvements and operational cost savingsMinimum Qualifications:Minimum of a B.S. degree in Material Science, Chemical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.3+ years of experience working with aircraft, marine, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.Experienced with fabrication and inspection of composite structures for aerospace.Experience with industry standard mechanical and physical property test methods for the characterization of structural composite materials.Ability to travel to support development and testing opportunities at other Blue Origin and vendor sites.Preferred Qualifications:M.S. degree in Material Science, Chemical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.Experience planning and driving a material allowables test campaign.Experience with statistical analysis and DOE methods as applied to design, analysis, and pensation Range for:WA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
