Facilities Engineer (Electrical)Department: ManufacturingEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Redondo BeachCompensation: $105,000 - $155,000 / yearDescriptionAs a Facilities Engineer at Impulse Space, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our aerospace capabilities by spearheading the development of cutting-edge facilities. Based at our 55k sq ft headquarters in Redondo Beach, you will take ownership of the entire lifecycle of facility projects—from conceptual design and meticulous planning to seamless implementation. Collaborating closely with our dynamic and agile team, you will contribute to the realization of our ambitious addition, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with our team at our Mojave test site.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, plan, and execute site facility improvement projects while partnering with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholdersManage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality standards. Provide regular updates on project financialsOversee new construction projects with direct or indirect management thru contractorsIdentify potential risks and challenges associated with facility projects, developing proactive strategies to mitigate and resolve issues as they arise.Manage third-party vendors and service providers, ensure projects and services are meeting our standards and terms of the contractEnsure code compliance and meeting all local and federal regulationsManage the sizing, installation, and maintenance, all infrastructure, buildings, HVAC equipment, high power electrical systems, water infrastructure and groundsLead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the entirety of the engineering, procurement, construction, and activation processCoordinate with utility providers for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructureEvaluate existing facilities and systems regularly, identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing improvements to optimize operational efficiency.Resolve questions and conflicts in the fieldMinimum QualificationsBachelors or Associates Degree in related Engineering or Technology field3+ years of experience in facilities engineering or related fieldExperience designing, creating and managing facilities drawings and layoutsExcellent project management and communication skillsExhibit the ability to analyze complex issues, devise effective solutions, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations, codes, and standards governing facility engineering, ensuring all projects adhere to legal requirements.Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (Experience with plumbing design and operationKnowledge of HVAC operation and design principles of associated equipmentWorking knowledge of delta/wye transformers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility groundingExperience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, automatic transfer switches, and solar power systems.Attention to detail with ability to quickly assess an issue and assist with troubleshooting and repairPreferred Skills and Experience5+ years of demonstrated experience with electrical and power distribution systems (5+ years of demonstrated experience with plumbing design and operationFamiliarity with cryogenic liquid and high pressure industrial gas facility systemsFamiliarity with facility sized deionized water treatment systemsAutoCAD/Revit/Bently or equivalent software – Beginner to intermediate skill levelProximity to the building is highly desirableAbility to work extended hours as neededFamiliarity with National Electric Code, ASHRAE, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building CodeShowcase a commitment to environmentally responsible practices in facility design and operation, including energy-efficient solutions and waste reduction strategiesAbility to complete complex projects and make decisions independentlyAbility to collaborate with internal and external teams, and manage multiple projects concurrentlyAdditional Requirement:Flexible schedule and willing to travel as neededAdditional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
