JOB SUMMARYTHE FOCUS IS YOU:As a Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries. The Tax Senior Manager oversees client relationships and acts as a liaison between internal staff and internal leaders to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients.JOB DESCRIPTIONTax Strategy and Engagement OversightDevelop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives and minimizing tax liabilitiesAnalyze complex tax scenarios, including mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, to provide optimal solutionsManage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standardsMonitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, make adjustments as needed to meet client expectationsResearch and AnalysisStay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiativesLead tax research efforts to address client inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and guide decision-makingClient CommunicationEffectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing their questions or concernsPrepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implicationsCultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor for their tax-related mattersCompliance and DocumentationReview and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance with regulations, and adherence to internal quality control standardsMonitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissionsStay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes, ensuring the firm and its clients are compliant with the latest tax requirementsTeam CollaborationCollaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practicesSupervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to foster their professional growth and ensure the quality of their workFoster a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication among team membersParticipate in internal training sessions to enhance your technical skills and stay updated on industry trendsProcess Improvement and InnovationIdentify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to the continuous improvement of the firm's tax servicesEnsure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including reviewing and approving tax filings, documentation, and client deliverablesStrategic Business DevelopmentCollaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities, cultivate client leads, and contribute to the firm's growth strategyParticipate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clientsSupervisory responsibilitiesWill supervise subordinate team membersWork environmentWork is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractionsPhysical demandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of timeMust be able to lift to 15 pounds at a timeTravel requiredTravel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client’s needsRequired education and experienceBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field8+ years of relevant experienceCPA or Enrolled Agent licenseExperience in professional service environment, such as a CPA firm, financial consulting firm, or similar settingSpecific positions may require additional industry or specialization certificationsResponsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirementSoftware: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax ResearchPreferred education and experienceJuris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positionsOther dutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the colleague for this job.
